Commercial Description:
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We aren't afraid to use plenty of rich roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something you've been looking for in a beer.

Pours a solid black body with a small head, even with a jackass pour. Aroma is mostly roast, but also coffee and chocolate obviously. For a stout I found this rather blah. It’s good, but nothing special.

Bottle: Aroma of roasted grains, coffee, chocolate, and fruit. Pours a dark brown, with a small tan head that fades quickly. Slight lacing. Lots of roasted grain and coffee up front. Chocolate and fruit come in the middle, with a moderate piney finish. Light vanilla lingers throughout.

Nice black pour with just enough carbonation to give it a creamy mouthfeel. sweet and hoppy at the same time. Finishes nicely.

Pours inky black with smallish brown head that lasts and laces fairly well. Nose is strong smoky malt, coffee, and chocolate flavors. The flavor is strong coffee and bitter chocolate, smoked barley, strong, with a touch of olive and tannin. Fairly high gravity, quite dry, very good dry stout.

12 oz bottle pours black with a short offwhite head that lingers and laces. Aroma is of roasted malts and a touch of coffee. Flavor is of coffee with accents of chocolate and a little bit of roasted peanuts. Decent bitter finish. On the palate this is full bodied and quite substantial for a dry stout. I enjoyed this one. Another fine brew by Avery.

More body and flavor than many dry stouts. Heavy palate. Some red wine. The roasted barley shows up in force but the hops are hard to find.

Bouteille, Amherst, Spirit House, Mai 2005.

Black body with barely a trace of ruby when held to bright light. The frothy head is light brown and filled with small, tight bubbles. The aroma is rich with coffee, chocolate and some roasted nuts. The taste is dry with some wood and strong coffee. The finish is long lasting with that coffee bitterness. Excellent example of the style. Contains a little more roasted character in the finish than I would. This is definitely a big dry stout. Coudl be a little smoother with a little less of a long bitter finish.
