Satisfying yet somehow foreign to my tastebuds. The nose is bitter roast and maybe some molasses. Mouthfeel is rather thin. Taste is like a decent coffee. Great lacing and pleasantly roasted aftertaste. Can’t knock it, but I can’t truly love it either, not being a coffee lover. Many thanks to Beaver for this brew! =) blklab2007 (986), Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 29, 2008 bottle poured a dark brown in color with a nice tan frothy one finger head that pulled back to a ring in the glass. aroma has malt, chocolate, light roasted coffee, and slight sweetness. mouth feel is medium light with flavors of roast, malt, cocoa, and milky chocolate. sips down smoothly with a finish that becomes dry and somewhat bitter. the hops addition in here i personally like although it is not to style. ajm (976), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2008 A fairly straightforward beer - not to say simple, just direct. Aroma is absolute coffee-charcoal. Flavor is that plus deep dark chocolate. Striking flavor, especially for a 5% beer. Don’t know why it isn’t more highly rated. JK54B (975), Helsinki, Finland

Hazelnut, roast malt, bittersweet chocolate in the aroma. Roasty flavors and astringency up front, mellows through cocoa and nutty flavors. Some residual hop bitterness in the finish to complement lingering nuts and roast. Mouthfeel is medium light, and fairly dry. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Pours pretty dark and a little bit of light shows through. Head is dark tan and has some nice staying power while leaving a bit of lace on the way down. Nose is a nice roasted bean thing. Quite nice really. Flavor is extremely robust and full. Great smoky qualities to it. Meaty, hearty. Just thick but smooth. Feel has a good carbonation to it and the liquid is good too. Overall this is a very nice dry stout. My first sip ended up killing half of the pint. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 23, 2005 Pours a very dark brown body with a tan, merangue-like head. The nose is full of black coffee. At first, the flavor is cool, black coffee with a slight burnt taste ending with a citrus/grapefruit hop kick. Not at all the finish I would expect from a "dry stout" but very kind nonetheless.
