COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This big, roasty stout takes flavor to the extreme. We arenít afraid to use plenty of rich roasted barley and a mountain of hops to give this full-bodied stout that little extra something youíve been looking for in a beer.

I was pleasantly surprised. Usually, I find Stouts with a relatively low ABV to be weak tasting and watery. This one was big, bold, hoppy, slightly bitter and malty. Lots of flavor, good palate, this one is changing my opinion that all good stouts are above 9% ABV. I should have known Avery would not let me down.

Poured from the bottle into a Samuel Adams glass. The pour produced a chestnut-brown, opaque body, topped by a medium head of rocky foam, which was slow to diminish. Coffee was the dominant aroma here, though I was quite surprised after my first sip. This stout brings quite a bit of hops to the game, adding a new level of floral and citrus to the roasted char I usually expect from a stout. The good thing about this heavy-handed use of hops is it is not overdone, and balances quite well. A full-bodied stout that isnít afraid to be a little bitter. Thanks, Avery, for something new!

Dark opaque pour with brown head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Very roasty flavor. Bitter dark chocolate. Medium to light malt feel. Nice Colorado stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a black like oil color with tan head, but lighter on the viscosity. Coffee, roasted malt, and cocoa on the nose; follows onto the palate. I really like that this is just being a stout, and not trying to be too much else. Solid.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate with some sweet notes. Flavor is roasted malt, black coffee, milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and some earthy hop notes. Medium body with soft carbonation. Pretty good one.

"predominance of smokey malts and a dry hop nose...more of the same from the flavor. good, but left me wanting a little more of everything. very dry finish as advertised."

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours black, with a small brown head that quickly fades, leaving moderate lacing. Nose is dark malt, and the taste follows the nose. Long finish, with some hop bitterness to balance the creamy mouth feel. Solid stout.

Roasted malt, tree bark, charred oak aroma. Black, medium tan head, abundant glass coating. Charred oak, very earthy, potting soil. Light body, soft carbonation. Well made, rustic, and enjoyable.

Absolutely delicious. Unlike many other stouts, this one doesnít have an overwhelming alcohol note to it. Just great malty, deep roasted flavor with a bit of coffee (not too much!) to complement the thick, smooth body. Great beer.

Ar: Roast, slight coffee, caramel - molasses. Ap: Black and opaque - small tan head with low retention, leaves a thin ring of foam and a spotty pattern on top. T: Roasted malt and caramel - clean alcohol warmth - coffee and brown sugar - coffee, toffee - some vanilla and oak notes - bitterness is medium and clean. P: Medium body with high carbonation - finish is dry. O: Nice stout - a good mix of dark malt and roasted caramel flavors with the right amount of backing sweetness and bitterness.

Smell of pitch black coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Good-sized head, nice retention, great lacing. Pitch black color. Tastes dark and rich, very minimal sugar, nice bitterness, char-roast. Medium bodied; doesnít over-power, but better to slowly savor than session. Nice follow-up to sesame kale in olive oil, before a smoked ham, lettuce, and tomato toasted sandwich.
