Near black colour with rich pale beige head. Vanilla ice-cream in aroma with mint and sweet tar and chocolate. Mild smooth mouthfeel, with medium body. There’s milk chocolate, sweet tar and low-medium hoppiness. Tasty beer but really a mish-mash of flavours and not really outspoken, and really low on the toast malts. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Bottle. Chalky, roasty aroma. Drinks with a very nice complexity of gristy, roasted malt ... dark chocolate, hint of coffee ground. This is a nice flavorful beer for a snowy night in Ohio! The color is a dark black with about two fingers with light brown foamy head. Some slight lacing.
The smell is very malty with a bit of espresso flavor mixed in with a nutty and roasty flavor.
The taste is really roasty and is a little like peanut brittle. Is the flavor is a bit smokey with some nice dark chocolate as well.
The feel of this beer has a nice medium feel and is pretty easy drinking for a stout. there is some nice aftertaste and is still a pleasant beer.
