fredandboboflo (508), East Setauket, New York, USA May 24, 2008 Bottle. Intriguing aroma of sweet malt with almost Belgiany notes of pears, plums, apricots. Flavor more sweet malt, remains fruity, hops never seem to kick in, but doesn’t get overly sweet either. Decent stuff.
pumpmaster (282), Florida, USA Sep 6, 2008 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $1.79 Very Good. beerheart (223), Erie, Colorado, USA Sep 2, 2008 On top at the Avery tasting room. I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. Reading the description, I expected this to be a plain ale, but I should have known better--Avery doesn’t skimp on ingredients. The balance of the hops and malts is evident. It tastes of pine, grass, citrus. Finishes clean. It’s a nice year-round ale, probably especially suited for summer. It’s also a good entry point into fine craft brewing for your Bud drinking friends. joeymacaroni (116), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2008 pours dark ruby red with a brown tint. finger-width off-white head. lots of lace. strong carbonation. aroma of cascade hops, lots of pine, citrus, overripe mango. flavor is light and citrusy. pine jumps a few seconds later. nice malty sweetness on the backburner. pretty good balance. finish is dry and piney with some subdued mango. well balanced and pretty impressive for an amber. dwaggs2 (93), Warrensburg, Missouri, USA Aug 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a darker amber color. Leaves a decent head. Aroma is malt, hops, and a few other flavors. Taste is great. Taste like a decent amber ale, but has a hoppy taste as well. Smooth on the palate. This was a very great easy drinking beer. SuperDave70 (768), Arizona, USA Aug 31, 2008 Clear amber pour with a foamy light head. Aroma of roasted malt, a touch of citrus, some hops and spice. Flavor follows right along those lines, with a bit of fruit coming through. Smooth, but a bit thin. It’s alright.
