2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle thanks to Perrin515. Pours amber orange. Quick dissipating off-white head. Nose and taste of pumpkin puree, rum barrel, oak, nutmeg, cinnamon and all spice. Lots of alcohol in the finish. A bit hot like a pumpkin liquor. Decent as a sipper, but I couldn’t even finish half the bottle. Too sweet and boozy. Off balanced. Medium body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 11/22/2014. Pours a clear ruby mahogany color, thin yellow beige head fades quickly to a still surface. Aroma is pumpkin, pie crust, cinnamon, nutmeg, touch of rum barrel with vanilla, booze. Taste is similar, pumpkin pie filling, heavily spiced, with rum, big boozy finish. Thick body. Alright, but verging on one-note only.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Perfect balance of pumpkin essence, pumpkin spices, and rum.
Syrupy (but not too syrupy) body, and a very sweet, but not quite cloying flavor, thanks to a dash of dryness from the ginger.
The alcohol is beautifully masked for 16+ percent, and the finish is nearly endless.
Pumking WAS my favorite pumpkin ale until I savored Rumpkin.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
GABF 2014. Great beer. Very sweet, but not to the point that I can’t drink it. I can taste and smell the rum, but it is surprisingly well hidden as far the palate where I do not feel the alcohol. Thick and heavy. Caramel; and pumpkin pie spices. This is too heavy for a 12 oz, put this in a nip bottle.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle – thanks Brian (mrhoppy)! Aroma is upfront soy sauce and rum. Blah. Swirling it around unlocks caramelized brown sugar, Christmas spices, rum. The beer pours inky black out of the bottle with quickly fading mocha head. The taste is much better than aroma, but still a bit cloying. Light roasted pumpkin, spices, brown sugar, dried fruits, molasses, rum. Body is medium-full, with seemingly zero carbonation and a slightly sticky finish. After taste is definitely barrel heavy, sweet rum and light booze. It’s not very hot, which I do dig. Overall, it’s focused, but not really my kind of beer. I can appreciate the craft in making something this big.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours hazy bronze with a ring of beige for the head. The aroma has bourbon, rum, alcohol, fusal, some light pumpkin and toasted rich malt. It has a very thick and chewy body with some light sharp carbonation. The taste is very rich and thick malt, brown sugar, toffee, sweet rum, alcohol heat and soft spices. The finish shows some pumpkin and lots of alcohol heat. This is interesting - very rummy and hot.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Oh my! Clear dark amber pour with small beige head quickly dissapating. Aroma of rum, pumpkin, burnt sugar, caramel and chocolate. Taste of caramel, burnt brown sugar, creamy chocolate, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon. All balanced out nicely with the rum aging. Full bodied, low carbonation, lots going on in this beer, absolutely delicious and potent.
