3.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, after a few draft samples last month. Pours translucent ruby chestnut, topped with a thin off white head. Beautiful aroma; the barrel characteristics predominate, with plenty of rum and lots of wood, with notes of vanilla, spice, and pumpkin in the background. Brown sugar and spice hit the palate for an instant, and are quickly overcome by rum. Intense finish, with lots of alcohol and dark fruit. I love the aroma, but the flavor doesnít measure up.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Batch 002. Pours a nice dark amber with absolutely zero carbonation. Aromas are pumpkin, caramel, and very active rum and wood scents. Flavors are exactly like the nose predicts, though there are some more nuanced spices mixed in and the alcohol flavors are tremendously good. The palate is super heavy and coats the tongue with a near liquor level of sticky, but even a little carbonation would help this out. Overall, this is a stellar beer, definitely the best pumpkin beer I have tasted, but a little too heavy and big to enjoy all the time; where it really wins is in the bottle size, 12 oz. is perfect for a beer this big.

This is a Big Beer. A smooth sipping pumpkin ale with all the requisite flavors, in abundance, and recommended.

A beer that I wasnít expecting to be that great but it is pretty good. Boozy and thick as hell but a pleasnt interplay of rum and pumpkin.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Holy shit this is sweet and boozy. These kinds of beers really are lost on me. So sweet and thick and full of spice and booze. Like an odd holiday liquor or something.

3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2011. I don't really like the aroma: supercharged malts with mediocre pumpkin spices alongside.
Taste is a different story altogether. Rum spices up front, Fall spices + aged booze sweetness in the middle, finishes with an oaky kick and plenty of boozy warmth.
Highly refined. Damn, this stuff is delicious.

15.9% version. Cloudy brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Silky palate with a little fine carbonation. Sweet malt with some port wine flavours. A little sweet pumpkin and spice - well integrated. Touch of dark rum and a trace of vanilla wood. Finishes semi dry with mild warmth. Pretty well integrated. Tasty and a bit different!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours from the bottle a very nice copper color that certainly implies pumpkin, with a small and insignificant head. The aroma is really big. Thereís a lot of pumpkin and spice, and a hell of a lot of alcohol in the nose. The taste is like a very, very strong Belgian ale with some pumpkin and rum tones and lots of heat. The alcohol in this thing isnít hidden at all, itís right up front. Not bad, but might be better with some age on it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, thanks to adnielsen. My bottle is batch #2. bottled 9/17/12. ABV labeled 18.1%. Hazy (pretty much opaque) dark orange / red color. No head, no lace. Rum and pumpkin gourd nose. Spicy flavor, big satisfying pumpkin, awesome amount of rum - a lot of rum barrel wood. But still a massive amount of gourdy pumpkin in this, very satisfying. Alcohol in this is detectable, but not 18% detectable. Seems more drinkable than DFHís WWS and 120m, but still has a sort of bite in the finish. Otherwise, hint of sweetness, more spiciness. Bigger body, but itís very dry. Carbonation is lighter but noticable. Very long, delicious pumpkin / rum barrel wood finish. Awesome, fascinating, intensely tasty stuff. Great to sip and savor.
