3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4526) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 25, 2008
(Bottled, 0.65l) Hazy golden-amber with a small, lacy head. Aroma of grainy, sweetish malt, spices, yeast and berries. Sweet and cinnamon-spicy, grainy-malty flavor with berry hints and yeast. Without yeast the flavor is slightly rough with ashy hints, and a touch of alcohol. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. A bit too sweet and grainy, although better with yeast. The label is probably the most beautiful ever seen in a beer bottle, but the contents are merely average for a Belgian Strong ale.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - FEB 24, 2009
Draft glass at the brewery tasting room. Bright golden and politely active. Could mistake it for Coors or something at first glance. But then you start drinking ... thick with esthery flavors and a definite alcohol kick. Easily drinkable big beer. (#3525, 2/22/2009)
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 tiggmtl (4467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 25, 2004
Orange citrus hop nose with some alcohol apparent in the aroma.Clear, golden copper with thin, white head that diminishes to ring. Sweet and hoppy flavour with gentle bitterness and many fruity notes. A bit hot. Body somewhat thin. Bottle. Enjoyed with MartinT and Rastacouere. Thanks, Dorwart!
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 larsga (4435) - Oslo, NORWAY - SEP 12, 2005
Small white head, which quickly disappears, over orange-red body.
Lovely, fruity aroma with notes of honey, yeast, and spice. Big, full
taste, with grass and fruit notes; very like a normal Belgian trippel.
Something odd about it, though, like a slightly off taste. Aftertaste
is quite bitter, in fact, maybe too bitter. Overall, a good beer, but
certainly far from the best trippel I’ve had.
(0.65l bottle in glass.)
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - DEC 19, 2006
Undated 22 oz bottle from Table and Vine in Northampton, MA (September 2006) quaffed at cellar temperature from a Duvel glass. Completely opaque dark amber-gold body (despite my witholding the yeast pour....somehow seems shaken up) with a smallish quick-diminishing white bubbly head and no lacing....fairly tart, somewhat cidery and quite yeasty aroma, bit of caramel but the overwhelming thick dusty yeast overawes everything....on the palate, initially quite sweet though tartness shows up almost immediately, somewhat buttery with an caramel-apple touch, sour orange-grapefruit emerging and engaging in a mystifying battle with their sweeter cousin that results in a fairly difficult to define or enjoy mishmash of sour, tart, sweet, syrupy flavors....syrupy peach-apricot takes over the fruit duties towards the finish, adding another layer of....what? Carbonation a bit too low, mouthfeel sticky and often cloying. Nope.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (4381) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - DEC 18, 2007
Pours golden with lots of bubbles. Fruity esters in the aroma accompanied by some spice and some floral hops. The flavor is very similar almost to a tee. Zesty carbonation and mouth-feel. I enjoyed it.
