UPDATED: JUL 2, 2005 Clear copper color with smallish sized white head. Very mild for a Belgian Strong where upon the taste is more malty than yeasty. A lot of funky flavors going on here and most are hidden behind the big alcohol flavor. Tastes more like a barleywine than a Belgian.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hotstuff (3213) - Indiana, USA - DEC 31, 2003
A very good and recommended Belgian Strong Ale. A medium sized off-white head that was creamy and smooth with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was slightly hazy and softly carbonated with an orange-golden hue. The nose was malty, fruity, banana, spicy, cinnamon and some clove notes. The flavor was malty, spicy and fruity with a smooth and slightly thin mouthfeel. This was a medium bodied beer with good lacing.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2008 Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a bright golden-amber color with a small yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet sugar, ripe fruits and fruity hops. The flavor was sweet, tangy and sugary with notes of ripe fruits and butterscotch. The body was thick and heavy. The alcohol was well hidden. Excellent.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 3, 2010
Draft at Reverend’s in Bowling Green. Pours a cloudy gold with a thick white head that doesn’t last very long. Hoppy, malty aroma, with notes of Belgian yeast, biscuit, citrus, apple, and pepper. The flavor follows suit for the most part- the hops and malt are prominent, and more citrus than the nose lets on, as well as some warming alcohol. Medium bodied, malty mouthfeel, and dry finish. Nice beer.

This one has several different flavors pounding on your tongue: sweet, bitter, fruity, and spicy. All combine in the finish to give you a warm feeling and enough CO2 to give you a good ol’ belch.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DougShoemaker (3149) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 13, 2005
Very malty aroma with a bit of fruit, Golden amber, pours a small custard head. Malt and some citrus flavour. Full bodied, alcohol is quite noticeable. Good, though a note to the brewer and or brewery, bigger isn’t always better.
Thanks You mds.
