COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Bomber from Total Wine in Tustin ($5.99) almost a year ago. Pours a clear golden amber with a finger and a half of off-white foam. Aroma has plenty of sweet fruity esters (yes, peach and apricot as well as lemon and orange) along with notes of yeast, sweet malts, and a bit of spice. Taste is full of good sweet fruit flavors (peach foremost along with banana, apple, lemon, tropical fruit), some hoppy bitter notes, bubblegum, and again a hint of spice. Semi-dry finish with only a bit of alcohol. I really enjoyed the fruitiness in this one. (744, 344)

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 It’s a really nice beer, candy sugar slightly dominant over subtle fruit. A soft style. It’s really well crafted and the label is a joy to behold. For me it was slightly too sweet vs a dryer Belgian Tripel, but still a beer to savour.

Bottle. Pours clear orange amber with a nice beige head leaving nice lacing. Aroma is fruity, malty, bready, a bit yeasty and sweet. Flavor is malty, a bit phenolic, fruity, alcohol, pungent and bitter. Finishes pungent, malty and bitter.

Rather good. Very nice aroma. A bit cloying ever so slightly but not enough to fuss about. Serving: Bottle

Semi-hazed orange pour with a foamy white head that lingers for a while. Aroma is honey, peach, caramel, spice, and berry. Rich caramel texture and a good roast finish. Good hop bitterness but also tastes like a traditional belgian.

Bomber. Pours a light apricot golden color with lots of active carbonation and whipped eggshell white head. The aroma is a blend of Belgian yeast, peach and plum rounded out by allspice and malt sweetness. The taste has strong Belgian candy sugar and yeast flavors at the start along with some honey, pear, apple cider and clove the rest of the way. There’s some grainy sweetness at the end with more spice and ripe fruit in the finish. It’s a little on the sweet side but overall it’s fairly smooth and flavorful.

Enjoyed from a 22oz bomber bottle in an elongated tulip glass. The beer pours a lightish to medium amber color, with a faint white head. The nose gives a more aggressive hop character than one would expect, given the style. However, the depth of malt notes allow the former to keep from being a detriment. Slight caramel, slight toffee, more assertive raison. The palate is surprisingly sweet and malty. Yet, the sweetness is pleasant and contains tremendous depth. Again, raison, Munich malt notes, and some slight toffee. Bitterness is present, but not in levels that would allow for the detection of specific hop varieties. Carbonation is lower than classic Belgian examples, but seems to compliment this particular example. Alcohol is beautifully hidden. The finish leaves a long, lingering malty note on the palate. Overall, a very enjoyable beer.
