Bomber, poured into snifter. Hazy gold with small white head that dissipates pretty quickly. Nose is light and fruity, with some peach, apricot, hint of cinnamon and earthy funk. Taste is more peach with a lemon background, light but noticeably spiced. Soft mouthfeel. I’ve never really been blown away by any examples of the style, but this is as good as I’ve yet come across.

Whole Foods, P St, DC 22oz ($7): Pours a light copper color with a white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy, and a whole bunch of Belgian yeast (the kind I like). Taste is of spicy, peppery, and quite dry. Taste is a little sweet. Nice hop flavor. There is a booze moment here and there. Good mouthfeel overall. Definitely the kind of Belgian ale that I like.

Pours a deep gold color with a medium foamy white head. Lots of spicy hops and ripe fruit in the aroma. Sweet flavor of fruit gives away to some hop bitterness, with a bit of alcohol bite. Pretty good.

650ml bottle pours a slightly hazy orangish-gold color with a decent head. fruity with a 9% dry alcohol taste. Another fine Avery brew, but I think I like the collaboration a little better.

Pours a beautiful golden colour with slgiht haze. Sharp contrasting white head retains well.
Nose reminds me of lemon square cookies and shortbread.
Palate has a citrusy vanilla flavor (lemon again), malt sweetness, belgian estery/yeasty notes, and some alcohol towards the end.
Very good golden ale. Significantly above average.

-golden yhellow with only a mild head and low carbonation. Not your classic-appearing Belgian-style golden. Mild esters on the nose. Flavor of light candi sugar with some yeasty esters and clove with a fair amount of alcoholic warmth. A flavorful brew, but they don’t necessarily mesh perfectly. A decent strong golden ale.

Light grain aroma. Clear golden color with a large white head and fizzy. Starts sweet and bitter with the alcohol noticeable.

My friend Rob and I got together on 1/30/2007 for a "Salvation" tasting that included Avery Salvation, Russian River Salvation, and Avery (/Russian River) Collaboration Not Litigation. We really wanted to try all three of these beers together so that we could compare. Needless to say, this was a really nice tasting that really helped redeem us from the sins of drinking bad beer during the less fortunate times in the past. Avery Salavation was the first beer tasted...
Avery Salvation pours a vibrant, clear, coppery golden orange color with a large creamy beige/ivory head. The aroma and flavor have a large candy sweetness with some citrus-like and peach/apricot? fruitiness. There is also a distinct, yet hard to describe tanginess/spiciness/bitterness in this beer that acts as its signature quality. The body of this beer is medium-light and is highly carbonated, yet has a soft and non-fizzy feeling on the palate. Overall this is a respectable American Belgian Strong Ale widely available and a reasonable price. However, I kind of wish that Avery wouldn’t uber-filter their beers to that they can condition in the bottle a little bit and develop some additional complexities...
22 oz bottle shared by Rob. Thanks Rob. I really appreciate it!
