COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The success of HOG HEAVEN and THE REVEREND clearly demonstrates that beer drinkers are willing to embrace "BIGGER" beers. In the fall of 2001, we decided that a lighter BIG BEER would complement its darker colored predecessors. Salvation has luscious apricot and peach aromas delicately interwoven with spicy suggestions of nutmeg and cinnamon. This heavenly soft, champagne-like elixir is cellarable for 3 years.

Pours much lighter than I expected with an almost non-existent head. The tiny head falls away to only a ring of micro and large bubbles around the edge. Three little islands of bubbles sit disinterestedly in the middle of the glass. The color is a beautiful sparklingly clear amber that almost glows in the light. The lack of head on a regular brew would make me rate lower, but the anticipation of this strong ale puts into my mind "there is no room for head in this brew".

Alas - there is not much to the aroma. I get a whiff of "clean" and a touch of "moist vegetation". I would like a bit more aroma.

The palate surprised me - I expected something thin from the look but was greeted with the bubbles expanding into a pillow like cushion in my mouth. Very pleasing - very soft.

The flavor is not as intense as I thought it would be. It is mellow in a interesting way. I get sweetness and a hint of pine nuts in the breath out.

Overall this beer didn’t talk to me as much as I would like it to (for the price/caliber of brewer/type of beer). It may be that I’m rating in a surrounding that’s different than my usual rating setup. I’m in a coffee shop eating some saiton buffalo wings with my wife (I’ve got a laptop; she a book). As I’ve been talking to my wife about my thoughts she brings up that what I’m looking for is exhausting to her; too much over stimulation. She enjoys this beer; so do I, but for the money and type of beer I don’t think I would purchase again. Go get a delirium tremens instead. I guess if you want something simpler in this category that doesn’t demand attention this is a pretty good beer. Maybe that’s the current hop-love stage that I’m in coming through. But tremens isn’t hoppy and it hits me like a dancing frog.

(22 oz. from Grain and Vine) Pours gold/orange/amber with a thin, lightly amberish off-white head. Aroma is sweet, a little bready with some light spice and caramel. Mouthfeel is light, soft, sticky. Flavor is sweet balanced with bitter, light caramel, spice, bread and fruit. A little hot in the finish.

Clear light golden pour with thin off-white head. Fruity aroma of peach and apricot with some spice notes - pretty nice. Taste begins with a big dose of spicy Belgian yeast followed by some sweet fruitiness and just a hint of bready malt and finishes with just a very slightly bitter aftertaste. Creamy mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Pretty decent overall.

Bottle. Strong bread, yeast, banana, ripe fruit on the nose. Pours golden with thin white head that lasts, good lacing. Flavor is Belgian all the way, sweet, bready, fruits and strong cloves at the onset. Good palate, decently long lasting.

mcmisko (269) - New York, USA - APR 20, 2012
Pour gold with small white head. Smells like golden fruits, flowers, and a little spice. Taste is big and complex with notes of flowers, apricot, banana, sweets malts, spices, yeast and hops. Med-full bodied. After taste has cinnamon, malts and dry hopped. Hop presence is big, but not too bitter. Cinnamon is pretty obvious and creates a lot of warming on the tongue. Good, interesting, and balanced beer.

GothGargoyle (273) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 12, 2012
Appearance is clear golden with a pale head that leaves behind some nice lacing. Aroma is peach, apricot, marmalade, pear, hint of wet hay. Reasonable body, slightly syrupy mouthfeel, sweet on the palate with a little bitterness in the finish. Taste is stone fruits, honey, citrus. Seems quite like a Belgian Tripel.

The beer pours a golden straw color with white head. The nose smells of floral apricots, subtle spice, perhaps coriander and nutmeg and hints of cinnamon. The Flavors starts with a little barnyard, followed by a sweet apricot the middle has a touch of bitterness and finishes with a off dry sweet flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Fruktig, rund och fin smak av aprikos och apelsin samt belgisk jäst. Den vi drack var lagrad 1 år vilket gjorde smaken mer balanserad. 3,7p
