Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2006 beautiful ruby red color. Smell of plums rasins and other fruits. No head. Very sweet with definite alcohol finish. Good beer. Not for the faint of heart!! Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 24, 2006 An amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet with very strong notes of caramel, but also lesser notes of alcohol and cardemmome. The flavor is very sweet with a good hop presence as well as strong notes of both cardemmome and cinnamon, leading to a dry spiced and alcohol end. The mouthfeel is thick like drinking syrup. Thanks to Papsø for sharing this gem - sure hope it arrives in Denmark soon. joergen (8429), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 23, 2006 Bottle, Thanks to Papsø for sharing.
Clear orange coloured with an off white head.
Very sweet aroma of malts, caramel and dried fruits.
Very sweet flavour of dried fruits, wood and caramel. weeare138 (933), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 22, 2006 Appears a red toned amber with a creamy off white head that fades into a soapy thin collar. Little drops of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of toasted oak, caramel, prunes, raisins, vanilla, champagne, and perhaps a touch of mild amaretto.
Taste is of cherries, raspberries, oaky, vinous, sweet candy, doughy funnel cake that’s been sprinkled with confectioners sugar.
Mouthfeel evokes one of the other Demons of Ale brew, Mephistopholes, due to the Turbinado sweetness and sweet finish with alcohol and berries lasting.
This one is a sipper only with the ABV evident. Better with age? Maybe. This Demons of Ale Series was a great idea though. I’d love to see more stuff like this from Avery. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Apr 22, 2006 Pours clear deep orange colored and a fine off-white head. Sweet and very full candied aroma. Toffee, bread, cookie, fruit (pineapple) and milk chocolate - very intense and inviting. Sweet in the flavor as well with a warming alcohol note. Dominating cake, spices and toffee with a note of candied fruit. Soft and full mouthfeel with a good complexity. Very different, very interesting and very nice. TomDecapolis (3127), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 9, 2006 Pours a slightly hazy deep golden red with an average off white lacing head. Aroma is sweet, vanilla, oak, caramel, bourbon, various fruits, some melon, alcohol was kind of hidden in there under all of the sweetness. Flavor was also very sweet, lots of vanilla but very syrupy. There was a lot going on here but for my personal preference this was a bit too sweet. Aroma more appealing than the flavor. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Apr 7, 2006 Pours a hazy reddish amber color. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, yeast, some fruit and spice. Taste is yeasty and medicinal, can really taste the alcohol in this one. Padron4KM (400), Chandler, Arizona, USA Mar 29, 2006 12 oz bottle. bottled in 2005.
Hazy amber, very thin head. Alcohol coats the glass.
Aroma is sweet with notes of melon, apple, honey, apricot. Wood is there but very faint.
Flavor was sweet. Port, vanilla, sugar, gooey caramel, honey. Just enough oaky tannins to keep it from becoming cloying.
Liquid desert. I think I killed my sweet-tooth for the month.
