Commercial Description:
Samael is the prince of demons, the angel of death, accuser and destroyer. Filled with enmity towards man, he planted the vine, the forbidden tree of paradise. Behold his venom and vengeance, both sweet and tempting, enticing you, his spellbound victim, within his wings.

Samael’s Ale is a super-caramelly, oak aged English-style strong ale. Perhaps the least hoppy (sacrilege here at Avery!!) beer we’ve brewed, to accentuate the malt. The oak is very apparent in this rich and high gravity ale, adding additional depth and complexity with a woody and cask-like nose and a pronounced vanilla flavor on the palate. This potent ale is the second installment, along with The Beast, of our “Demons of Ale Series”.

Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, turbinado sugar, hops, yeast, and American oak chips.

Aged 3 years. Pours deep amber into a snifter. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Maple aromas. Vanilla and maple from front to back. Sweet caramel and alcohol burn finish.

Bottle. Thanks to YourDarkLord for bringing this out for me to sample. Pours translucent copper with a faint off white head. Sweet syrupy aroma, along with some vanilla and strong liquer. Flavor of caramel, dark fruits, alcohol, and a hint of vanilla. Not a lot of oakey wood traits in my sample, perhaps a little light on the hops also. Slighty stickiness on the finish, with a hint of solvent like alcohol bite. Interesting beer. Not sure I would buy again.

Bottle. Nose-smells like nail polish remover and over rippened fruit. Dark brown body with no read, just a ring of bubbles. Taste-apple juice, paint thinner, pineapple, raw unrefined sugar, tanned leather, black pepper, honey, blackberries, and oak. Very sweet and enjoyable in a masochistic kind of way. This beer def needs some time to cool off. I will try my other bottle in 5 years.

Wow. I really liked this. A brief beige head tops a deep amber body. The nose hold notes of dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, citrus, brown sugar, oak, Scotch, and corn syrup. Thick and syrupy in the mouth, no carbonation. Flavor was sweet and syrupy but not cloyingly so. Lots of dried fruit mixed with Scotch. Nice to sip from a snifter.

When I took my sip of this, I let out a loud "F$@K", this beer took me by surprise, I knew I was getting somethig strong, but not this. This is closet thing to Brandy that a beer can get. the feel is thick, velvetly and sticky A strong aroma of Caramel, toffee and candy sugar prepares you for the taste of many flavors of candied sugar, mollasses, raisins, pine and spice. Be careful, drink this slowly. its worth every penny

Hazy amber colour. Ok head. Sweet aroma of figs and other Christmas fruits. The flavour was thick and sweet with a warming alcohol finish. It was really too sweet but i enjoyed it in some perverted way.

Shared with Theis. Pours a clear amber with a small tanned head. Very heavy sweetness. Smells of almond liqueir. Lots of (sweet versions of) fruits: cherries, plums and strawberries... topped off with toffee. Also rather bready with notes of almonds. Extremely heavy bodied. Wine/port like. Lots of alcohol. Soft carbonation. Also oak, cork and honeish sweetness in the finish. Too sweet for me... I wouldn´t be able to finish a whole bottle.

Cloudy orange, extremtly thin head. Nose is big plummy/vinous, brown sugar, some alcohol. Alcohol becomes more promiment as it warms. Flavor is sweet raising & grape. Brown sugar, orange syrup. So much caramel. Some alcohol. I really don’t get much oak but that isn’t a bad thing. Honestly almost a bit too much body.
