| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 14, 2008 Darker amber pour without much head, looks like a nice barleywine. SMoked and fruity scents come off the top, but there it is:the sour oaky funky smell, with vanilla and cherry too.Fairly flowery on both taste and smell and the vanilla/oak flavor is powerful. The presence of alcohol is noted most strongly in the finish and warmth in the throat. I guess the smell and taste of this brew remind me of a musty cabin room from summercamps of my youth stefanje (960), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA

Pours a amber color with a small beige head that immediately disappears, no lacing noted. The aroma is rich with vanilla, red wine and bourbon. The flavor is every bit identical to the aroma; If there is caramel in there it is hidden by the whiskey. The mouthfeel is full and malty. The finish is long with lingering bourbon. Overall: A very tasty oaked concoction, not for everybody, but I really liked it. ElGaucho56 (393), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 20, 2008 Pours a devilish shade of red with a quickly dissipating blond head and a couple of chunks of yeast idly floating in suspension. Very oak pronounced nose, strong caramel alcohol, and a slightly tart fruitiness. Comes on strong on the palate, with an initial whiskey smokiness that quickly progresses through a tobacco bite onwards to vanilla liqueur sweetness then into a cough syrup finish. Mouthfeel is pure syrupy, clinging to the palate for some while, and any bitterness in the finish seems more due to the alcohol than hops, although a faint herbal hop character can be detected. Slowly grows more daunting as you sip away... Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 21, 2007 A beguilingly sweet and nutty aroma and frothy head with caramel and hazelnut undertones makes this a striking brew, to say the least.
The actual flavor shows a remarkable range between malt, coffee, chocolate, caramel, and the smoky peat of scotch with a stable, sweet finish.
Would ideally be served as a beer with dessert, it would be nicely paired with poached fruit and ice cream. luttonm (329), Belgrade, Serbia

Intense syrupy bourbon, in the class of bourbon county and dark lord. The bourbon isn’t as forward as those two, but still this is a big, complex and roasty beer. Poured into the new Sam Adams Lager glass
A- Pours a clear bright orange hue with amber highlights, head is a very thin layer of white condensed bubble that dissipates to a mere ring, minimal lacing
S- Amazing aroma dominated by wonderful oak and vanilla aromas, sweet malts, molasses, brown sugar, dark fruits
T- Taste follows suit of the aroma save for a strong overriding alcohol presence, the oak and vanilla comes out first followed by a range of dark fruits that are raisin-heavy, finishes with a sweet dryness
M- Full-bodied, thick and chewy texture, lively carbonation
D- At almost 15%abv, this is definitely a sipping beer to enjoy over time, i can only imagine how wonderful this would be with a few more years of aging rustychiles (1071), Mesa, Arizona, USA
