this beer is no joke.... pours thin, with almost no head. Tons of sweet malt aroma, unable to escape the richness.... The first taste is of sweet oaky fruit.... would be great with some spicy bbq ribs or a rich steak.... not much hop body, but still serious beer.... Tons of malt and roasted oak with some citrus spice...... this bottles has been cellared for almost 5 years... couldn’t imagine how brutal it was when young. Overall, I enjoy the complexity of this beer... definately not for sessioning, but a nice sipper at the end of a long night of work....

Pours a dark ruby with a very thin head. Aroma is oak and lots of caramel. Flavor is same, but very sweet, and with a full, syrupy mouthfeel. Tons of flavor. Incredible.

Amber color , thin head. Aroma of caramel malt , oak and spices. Sweet caramel , wood , bourbon and fruits in taste . Some alcohol in finish and aftertaste. Strange feeling of the excess of something. I don't know certainly what bother me. Maybe its sweetness.

Lots of barrel in this. Maroon pour with decent head and lacing. Light sweet finish. Very syrupy. Lots of caramel malt. Not the kind of barley wine I prefer. Bottle pour at Churchkey event.

2014 bottle at home. Pours copper with a thin head of tan foam. Aroma is sweet, with apples and dark fruit. Taste is sweet, woody and bourbon. Not as complex as other Avery heavy hitters as there are very liittle hops. Body is full with a creamy texture and soft carbonation; finish is long and sweet.

Big and sweet and oaky, just as you would expect from a demon. I like many sweet beers but this one’s almost to much even for me.

Had it on tap. It was very sweet. The sweetness disappears quickly and kills all booziness. Ended in a soft maple raisin. Would be a great dessert beer.
