randolphjj (90), Raymore, Missouri, USA Nov 9, 2009 Nice honey beer -- great nose of honey, with a great golden haze color. flavor is complex and I can pick out a bit of peach, but it’s very light and subtle. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Nov 8, 2009 On tap, Pizza Port. Uhh, I regret I didn’t get one of their house beers. Poured into a tulip glass, clear gold with a small white head. Nose is nice brett, lemon, sugar. Palate is on the light side, with soft carbonation. Flavor starts and finishes way too sweet for me, the kind of Saison that doesn’t stick to subtle funky complexity and is just trying too hard. The brett is there, but it is smothered to lemon meringue and sweet champagne. To me, there is not enough balance here. I understand that this is not supposed to be a “traditional” interpretation of a Saison – and my girlfriend liked this beer quite a lot – but somehow the flavors did not work for me. Obviously, I expected more out of this beer. jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Nov 1, 2009 Reviewed 7/25/2009 (bottle):
Pours a pale golden yellow colored body, very cloudy. With a huge cloudy white head lasting. Floral spicy aroma, sweet smelling. Very reminiscent of a Belgian Triple. Spicy taste, spicy sweet aftertaste. Light and lemony citrusy. A little sweet after a while. A platic like aftertaste as it warms. Less tasty as it warms. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Oct 28, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a hazed golden-yellow body with a fizzy, finger-width, white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a very light lacing. Aroma has lots of honey, flowery spices, some bitter peaches and other fruits, and a light grassy hop and wheat malt. Flavor is grainy wheats, lots of honey and flowery spices, and good amount of even fruitiness. Finishes slightly tangy with a light grassy bitterness. Dry with a lively carbonation, medium body, and full mouth-feel. Overall, an interesting saison. The wheats, flowers, and mild fruits make this pretty tasty. Nothing too exciting, but definitely different. Not bad. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2009 Bottle shared by... xnoxhatex??? Pours a clear golden / bright yellow with a small frothy white head. Aroma has some urinal cake, hay, peach, fruity, alcohol, noble hops maybe. Flavor is sweet, a bit chalky, fairly bitter, oddly spiced and strangely hopped. Medium bodied, a little bit too full for a saison, chalky, soft but large carbonation, syrupy. ditmier (1023), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 27, 2009 Bottle - Thanks BuckeyeBoy! - Pours a cloudy gold with a medium white head...aroma is doughy yeast, citrus, floral fruit and some spice...flavour was similar, almost chewy grain, honey and dough...I wouldn’t have guessed peaches but after someone mentioned it, I guess I could taste it in the finish, but thats probably the power of suggestion...overall I really enjoyed this interpretation...definitely a departure from the typical saison style, but so long as it’s colder than 70 degrees out, I’d drink it again for sure... Ughsmash (3983), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Oct 26, 2009 Bomber. Poured clear-ish, light golden with a dense cap of white head. The aroma was very aggressive with orange zest, floral notes, and spicy yeast accented by vanilla and peaches.. not bad stuff, but it needed some subtlety. The flavor was along those same lines.. tart peaches and orange zest stung the tip of the tongue with honey and vanilla rolling onto the very sweet, somewhat grainy middle.. sharp floral notes, peach vinegar, and dirty, Bretty bugs on the back (not sure if they actually bugged it, but I got some. Spicy, thick, and cloying on the finish with moderate-plus carbonation.. just too much of everything in here. jeremytoni (1072), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Oct 20, 2009 From a bottle poured a clear golden color with a fair amount of head. Nice light fruity flavor with a bit of spice and a quicl finish.
