COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Bottle @ home batch 10. Pours dark red/brown with an off white head. Aroma is raisins, toffee, molasses, caramel, sweet malt. Flavor is very sweet, dark fruit, toffee, some vanilla and chocolate. Very nice beer with lots of things going on.

Toffee/amber colored pour. Small off-white, almost tan, head. Quick to fall. Little bit of lacing. Yeasty aroma with some malt and sugar notes. Some dry fruit, raisins mostly. Trademark Avery over-sweetness to the point of being cloying. Very boozy. Finishes like syrup and very hot.

Had on tap at blind tiger (this is the 2010)- pours a hazy mahogany color with 1.5 fingers of creamy white head. Good retention, some splashes of lacing. Smell is great- very thick and a little musty. Lots of toasted barley, some molasses, a little booze. Surprisingly little for the abv. I smell some wood as well. Tastes fantastic- full of smooth, rich barley malt flavor. Certainly sweet, rich caramel flavors, a little spice, kind of peppery. Toffee. Mouthfeel is very appropriate- full bodied, modest carbonation but enough to make it possible to drink. Long finish that leaves a nice bready caramel flavor. I would definitely get this one again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pours dark mahogany with nice tan head. Aroma of caramel and breaded malts. Flavors of toffee-coated crushed red peppers, lightly toasted malts, semi-sweet dark fruits, and spices. Batch No. 11, release of 622 cases, July 2013.

Batch 11. Raisins, honey, licorice, sugar...smell and taste is sweet. Even at 18% the alcohol is well hidden, you know it's there but doesn't overpower. It blends very well with the sweetness. Magnificent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a slighly unclear, dark copper colour with a minimal white head on the edges. Aroma of very strong and sweet raisins, honey, and pine. Flavour of sweet malts, very strong raisins, syrup, rye bread and pepper. Full bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and a slightly warming finish. Alcohol comes through in the end

wilderthanyou (758) - Guelph, CANADA - DEC 30, 2013
Pours deep hazy amber with a short lived fizzy cap. The aroma is sweet, huge on raisins and dark fruits, brewing sugar, undertones of salted black licorice, booze. The flavour is also sweet, strattles the line of too sweet, again, heavy on raisin and dark fruit, brewing sugar, there is alot going on, hard to put into words, undertone of alcohol that really only becomes noticeable into the finish mixed with a very light medical herb sort of bitterness. Soft, syrupy mouth feel. A strange brew, but certainly with a try, would probably buy again.

Beerman6686 (4341) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 30, 2013
This poured a darker red color with pretty much no head at all. Aroma was of dark fruit, yeast, spices, and booze. Flavor was a biy syrupy pruney taste, but not too cloying, caramel, belgain spices, and some booze, but hidden fairly well for how big it is.

Lukaduke (2185) - Portland, Maine, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Pours a rich red amber caramel color with a finger of foam. The nose is musky dates, composty with lots of boozy heat. The palate is a bit messy and kind of a mess. The sweetness helps but the garbage strewn medicinal booziness completely obliterates anything this beer has going for it. Somewhat cough syrup, rubber and plastic on the finish.
