COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Thanks to MilkManDan for providing this treat. Deep, dark brown. Surprisingly non alcoholic aroma. Rich and sweet smelling, with loads of noble hops. Flavor is rich, quite sweet, with some serious alcohol flavor, but its not too much. Glorious swirling noble hop flavors. I’ve never tasted a beer that has such a full, rich noble hop flavor, they’re quite sexy. I really like this.

Bottle->Trappist. Dark amber with small offwhite head. Aroma: sweet caramel, dark fruit, spice, booze. Taste: figs, raisins, sweet malt, booze. Strong alcohol, as expected. Too strong.

This is a big beer. Pours amber with medium head. Upfront you notice the sweetness and finally finishes with a heat from the alcohol.

High alcohol aroma - dates, plums, raisins, and other dark fruit. Taste is close to a brandy or sherry. Absolutely wonderful beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

April 16, 2013 - on tap at Bridge. Brown pour with maybe some orange and some head and lacing. Aroma was sweet caramel, spice and alcohol. Taste was consistent with aroma, but a touch too sweet for me and the strong dry alcohol finish was just a bit too rough. I have seen this many times at the store, so glad to try it, but this was not as beast as I was hoping.

Vintage 2007. Anyone interested, send me a message. Great year. Opened 6 years later. The taste is bitter and malty followed by sourness from dates, figs, and raisins. A sweet finish. The alcohol doesn’t come through until the end, where it warms the throat. The aging is definitely present. Great beer, not many left from 07’.

2012 batch poured at Avery tap house. Clear amber with a medium tan head, minimal lacing. Aromas of oak, caramel, dark fruit, slight hops, and toffee. Very sweet upfront, lots of Belgian yeast character. Amazingly good alcohol masking. Taste is complex: toasted malts, honey, earthy spices, molasses, anise, and the slightest hint of alcohol on the finish. Well balanced. Palate is a bit oily and creamy too. Some hops and spices come through in the aftertaste.

This is the 2011 version. Obviously, I’ve had it a while and the flavors blended quite well. Caramel and other sweet aromas, alcohol as well. Copper and amber color that looked clear with barely no head. There was quite a bit of sediment in the bottle that I tried to avoid. Smooth and soft palate that coated the mouth. Some sticky sweetness but not overly so. The honey, molasses and raisins stood out. Maltiness was there with the hops being overshadowed. A great sipper.

Taster at Avery taproom. Pours brown with a fleeting head that slightly clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is boozy, sweet, somewhat smooth notes, with slight rum characteristic. Taste is like rum cake: really sweet, warming, smooth, and perplexing. It tastes like a beer but goes down like a shot?!? Finish is smooth oak vanilla but with a warming burn. Split a bottle after dinner with your guests.

12 oz. bottle. Batch 9 (2011). Served in a snifter. Pours a caramel color. Strong aroma of alcohol and candy sugar. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Sweet and boozy; reminds me of a lighter version of cognac. Enjoyable, but very little complexity. Perfect for sipping as a digestif.

Amazing...2007. Nose is a bit veggie but everything else is 100 percent badass. Bingo bango bongo.
