COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Vintage 2007. Anyone interested, send me a message. Great year. Opened 6 years later. The taste is bitter and malty followed by sourness from dates, figs, and raisins. A sweet finish. The alcohol doesn’t come through until the end, where it warms the throat. The aging is definitely present. Great beer, not many left from 07’.

The aroma blends Belgian yeast, booze, caramel, figs, toffee, and earthy notes. The beer pours a dark chestnut that is quite murky, and surprisingly there is a medium off-white ring and thin layer of head atop the liquid. The taste is quite sweet, mildly boozy, mildly bitter, slightly umami, and slightly sour. The aftertaste furthers the malty bitterness that is hidden in the initial taste by the booze and sugars, but the booze still dries out the mouth after the beer’s been swallowed. The palate has a slick and thick texture, medium-full body, and a soft carbonation. Overall, these flavors don’t mesh as well as they could, and this bottle could definitely use some age.

En fût au Saint-Bock. Vintage 2013.

The color from bottle to glass is one of my favorites I have ever seen, deep ruby red at midnight! Up front alcohol in aroma and taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

there’s a ton going on in there. so many different things...read the label (brewer’s description)...this beer is done well enough that you can actually taste each ingredient, and all that at a whopping 16.31%. Nice surprise!! had again, remembering i really liked it, but it was even better this time around. soooo complex, and the somehow the mix of turbanado sugar, belgian candi sugar, raisins, honey, etc...is not overly sweet. in fact, the aroma is close to a 10, while the only thing that knocks the flavor, just a tiny notch, is the alcohol presence. still would never believe the abv of this one if i didn’t read it for myself."

12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a dark reddish brown, with a moderate khaki head that slowly fades, leaving moderate lacing. Nose is dark malt and dark fruit, with some caramel. Taste is dark fruit and dark malt, with a somewhat harsh alcohol note. Would probably benefit from aging. Not bad, but raw.

Wafting aroma of date, currant and hot alcoholic caramel. Murky swamp of doom appearance. Blunt sweet fruity flavor, like some barleywines but not starch. Somewhat bitter as well and obviously very strong. Body of molasses run through a microwave for a few seconds. Very potent, split w a buddy during a pub night, which grew dramatically worse after this.

Bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber orange with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of sweet grain, earthy fruits, a bit of Belgian yeast and some underlying alcohol. Flavor has lots of sweet grains with strong booze, a bit of earthy fruits and some light Belgian yeast.

Clear mahogany pour with a cream head that surprisingly lasts. Result nice raisin, date, dough, and boozy aroma. Taste is very sweet dates, molasses, raisin, and caramel. Strong hot alcohol comes through as well. Alcohol numbs the palate. Thick syrupy body. Definitely a slow sipper.

Transfer from BA review on 5-13-13- Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – Pours a murky brownish-orange color with ruby highlights seen shinning through when held to the light. Upon a vigorous pour there is a tiny white foam on top of the brew. This foam fades very fast leaving only the lightest level of lace on the sides of the glass. Upon swirling the beer, a fingery foam is left sticking to the glass as the thick body of the brew slowly settles to its resting place at the bottom of the snifter. Smell – The aroma is big and boozy with a harsh alcohol smell. Underneath the strong alcohol are fruity aromas as well as lots of caramel and a big malty backbone. The fruit aromas are big of citrus orange with some cherry as well as raisin and plum. A thick and heavy caramel and buttery toffee are mixed with a malty and lightly grainy smell. Overall it is a big and warming aroma, smelling more like a sweet barley wine then anything else. Taste –Wow!! Massive sweetness up front with tons of caramel and a thick and pallet coating orange Dimetapp flavor. Right from the start there is a strong presence of alcohol giving it at first a more warming taste. The alcohol continues to strengthen throughout the brew getting very potent at the end. Along with the increasing boozy taste, a buttery toffee flavor hits the tongue more toward the middle and the end. A maltiness, that was lighter upfront, grows stronger more toward the middle and the end of the taste. Some grainy and grassy flavors develop at the end with the alcohol taste now very big and hot giving a harsh alcohol burn. This huge alcohol taste when mixed with the sweet fruit and sugary tastes, leaves a very mediciney flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the brew is quite thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is very low. Not too surprising of a body for a 16 % abv brew with it giving a very mediciney like character to the beer and making this on a very slow sipper when combined with the big boozy flavor. Overall – Thick of a hot boozy and mediciney flavor; this is a very sweet and slow sipper indeed. It is rather odd, while it has some more off characteristics like the medicine flavor and huge sweetness, somehow it goes together to make something rather palatable and somewhat enjoyable. While not one I would ever want to frequent, it is one I think that should be experienced, and one to come to every so often when you feel like something intense and hot.
