3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wow. The beast. Draft at rattle with streets and Brendan. Pours a hazy red body with light white lacing. Aroma is sweet, sweet fruits - apple and prune. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy with notes of booze, thick apple cider, spice, sweet fruity malts. Just too much booze.

I can't accurately rate this beer by taste because I am thrown by the calories. Seriously.... That's equivalent to half a day's food which is crazy! All the beers I like are big beers and to enjoy what I like means not eating! Ack! This is only helpful to carb and calorie conscious types. Of course the beer is good!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma of dates, raisin, fig, molasses. Sweet almost sugary aroma. Taste is the same but amazingly does not have a sticky sugary palate. It has some great flavors and very malty but still doesn’t taste sugary sweet. It is however very boozy. Alcohol heat is very noticeable, has almost vodka boozy feel or grain alcohol feel. The alcohol might help balance some of the sweetness but I think there are also some noticeable hops balancing. It is very strong and a sipping beer. At 17.2% for the 2015 version it borders on a whiskey/ beer hybrid almost. Palate not sticky but the boozy dry finish mix is a bit off, gin like almost? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle to snifter. Took me a year to build up the courage to drink this. Dark ruby red. Clear. Thin off white ring. Aroma of booze and some yeasty spicy notes. Loads of sweetness. Some alcohol burn but less than expected. Some spiciness from the Belgian yeast and hops. It’s a big one. 1/3 of the way in and my cheeks are glowing. Big sticky body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
4 oz bottle pour (2010 Batch 8) at ChurchKey during the 22 years of Avery event. Clear dark amber with beige head. Aromas of dark fruit, oak, booze, caramel. Tastes of caramel, butterscotch, oak, booze. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Possibly slightly oxidized. Still a lot of booze after 5 years. Definitely a slow sipper unless you want to get stupid.
