BigMilly8 (373), Holiday, Florida, USA Feb 28, 2008 From bottle - Batch 3 - Pours a thick, cider looking color, with a late forming head. The head is offwhite and only lasts for about 15 seconds, then recedes back down into the beer. Strong nose, of yeast, soy sauce, vegetables, marinated steak, alcohol, honey, and some dark fruits. Really odd combonation i know, but thats what im getting. The taste has some rum charteristics. Sweet flavors with yeast, some honey. It is thick, and has a alcohol burn toward the end. The aftertaste is interesting, it is sweet, raisins maybe, some other type of fruit, there is alot going on with this guy. To me, it is a sipper...big time. But overall it isnt to bad.
GMCC2181 (429), Bear, Delaware, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle from wolf. Thanks... Damn, 16%! I dont know what batch it was. Aroma was sugar and alcohol. Light red in color. Tasted like an oak aged beer... Sweet with a vanilla, dried fruits. + Alcohol. Texture looked light but was kind of thick. Definetly a unque beer that I am glad I tried but I wouldn buy it again.. Swolf3 (99), Elkton, Maryland, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle. Poured brown in color with tan head. Aroma was sweet, malty, and oak. Taste was similar with strong alcohol finish. Maybe a little too strong for my liking. Just ok. Rib Eye (139), USA Oct 13, 2008 A lovely SWEET and malty beer from the good people at Avery makers of one of the world’s great brown ales. Stylistically I would put this close to a barley wine. Hansen (1780), Randers, Denmark Oct 5, 2008 Amber and clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is malty, sherry, caramel, alcohol, real strong. Flavor is heavy sweet, moderate bitter. Warming alcohol. FlssmrBrewAlum (248), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL) 2006 Batch 4 vintage shared with a friend. This brew poured a very interesting browish red with tan head and a nose that could be smelled a long way away. Aromas of sweet sugars, dried fruits, and alcohol. A sugary sweet mess on first smell. However, this beer was pretty deep on further inspection. A very sweet (Not quite cloying though) brew, filled with dark dried fruits, sugary candy, honey and molasses, but with a decent bitter hop finish that wins me back. I personally didn’t feel this alcohol was hidden. The sweetness didn’t hide it, although I expected it to. Sweet malt heavy but vindicated by a persistant bitter hop finish A very interesting beer that I am sure ages uniquely. Cheers!
