The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

Yuck. This was an unfortunate drain pour for me. I aged it 6 months too! It is that typical high alcohol content smell/taste that has a bad sweetness. It is similar to D’extra and Samels. Not up my alley.

2014 bottle. Hazy deep amber pour. Grape, sweet candies sugar in the aroma. Strong taste, hot alcohol, then awash in sweet grains, cinnamon, ruby port, and baked apple. Lingering alcohol burn but in a welcome way. A year plus more would have been nice.

Batch 13 17.2%abv. Poured into a tulip. The beer is a super murky light brown with an average khaki head that leaves very nice lacing. Aroma is figs, dates, plums, raisin, molasses, candi sugar, and oak. Taste is full of dark stone fruits. Figs, dates, raisin, sugar plums, brown sugar, oak, alcohol, and fruit cake. Somewhat thick and very sticky and lingering, with alcohol in the finish, but not overpowering. Outstanding beer.

Lightly clouded darker red brown with a light tan head. Heavy molasses and honey mixed with alcohol. Raisin, musty lightly funky fruitiness. Very sweet, maybe some bitterness somewhere in the background, maybe a hint of umami. Heavy, syrupy body, alcohol is definitely there but far from being unbalanced. Quite acidic. Pretty good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Matt for this one!

Batch 12. Bottle. Hazy amber brown beer with a large beige head. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, oranges, wood, apricot, herbs, chocolate and dried fruit. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, oranges, apricot, vanilla, strawberries, herbs and chocolate. Well balanced.

Batch 13 (2015) Aroma - honey, barley, spices, and some Belgian yeast. Appearance - body is an unfiltered auburn. The head is 1/2" off-white. Settles to a foam. And lacing drags. Taste - rich sweet caramelized sugar, dark fruit (raisins, plum, fig, and black cherry), some honey. There is also a bit of German hops. Even some vanilla. Alcohol of course. Palate - body is full, texture slick and sticky, carbonation is lively, the finish rich, sweet, and alcohol/roast astringency.

Draft at the brewery. Pours almost clear brown with thin, fizzy beige head. Smells like oatmeal, dates, cookie and cereal malts, light caramel, and light woody notes. Tastes like sweet malt, dark fruits, floral hops, and light oak, and a hint of sour fruit. Medium body and carbonation.

Batch #13 (July 2015) into a mini Chimay glass. Pours brown with white head and lace. Aroma of malt and white wine with oak. Flavors of rich malts, toothpaste, liquor, dark candy sugar, molassas. Overall big, bold, bodacious...helps to warm up for awhile.

Batch 6. Rich mahogany with a faint beige head that fades to a ring. Good lord this is a sweet and boozy snoof, lots of fruit, no hint of oxidization, cane sugar, date syrup, reduced balsamic glaze with some figs, low carbonation and full body, very sweet, smooth, alcohol well hidden until the end when you get a bit of a bite. Should be shared but worthwhile.

2015: Their third strongest batch ever. I’m fine with that. It’s really strong, but actually not that offensive.
