COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

Bottle thanks to a trade. Pours near black with a coffee brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a lot of dark grains with a bit of chocolate that adds a touch of sweetness and light roasted malts. Flavor is richer with roasted malts and bitter chocolate backed by dark grains

On tap sampler. Molasses is the big flavor that stuck out for me on this great stout.

Bomber. Dry mineral and faint vanilla aromas. Really smooth with a caramel aftertaste. Much lighter than I expected.

22 ounce bottle pour. Pours a dark, viscous brown with a dark, grey to purple head of foam. The aroma is leather, dark roasty earth, and some licorice. Taste is bitter and earthy. Bitter finish.

Bottle. Inky black that is ruby at the edges, with an off white head that leaves lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, molasses. Taste is rich roasted malt, molasses, coffee, some burnt chocolate, some licorice, some bitterness. Medium heavy body that is creamy smooth, light carbonation.

Classically beautiful no-nonsense imperial stout. Hits all the right notes. Thick but not too thick. Perfect roasted malts in flavor. Perfect amount of hoppy and lingering bitterness. Coffee and chocolate notes to the right degree. If you want to know what an imperial stout should be, look no further. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from Brennans (Milwaukee area’s Avery source!). Cellar aged 6 months. Pours a cola black with a foamy chocolate milk head leaving a lot of lacing. Aroma has chocolate and toffee and molasses with roasted malt and bit of grape. Taste is of rich sweet chocolate with some bakers chocolate in the mix. Roasty espresso with some caramel. A touch of alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Luscious. Finishes bittersweet and rich. The best Avery brew?? A bit of an inconsistent brewery, despite Graham’s review, but this is a very good one.

Thanks Lew. Black, with imperceptible tan lacing. Big aroma, carried across 2 rooms when poured. Full of licorice, chocolate pudding. Massively thick, flavor is espresso, roasty dark chocolate, and pot de creme in a glass. Nice roasted bitter balance to the heavy malt and chocolate. 11% abv is incredibly absent. There is depth and complexity to this that will bring me back for many more.
