On tap. @ Bambinos. Pours thick opaque black with medium dark mocha head. Aroma is dark roasty malt, chocolate, espresso, and a bit if sweet raisin. Taste is sweet creamy chocolate malt with notes of toffee and espresso. Rich chocolate flavors dominate. Mild but assertive hop finish. Lacking the complexity normally found in imperial stouts. Good, but not great.

Bottled the 298th day of 2013; October 25th. The day what my dad was born on. I miss you.
Black as black, small tannish head of foam, doesn’t do much with the lacing.
The nose gives me a big hop profile with I *think* some notes of licorice. Some underlining notes of roasted malt.
Roasted malt in the taste along with some toffee and licorice. And don’t forget the hoppy bitterness. As it warms up, I find the flavours overpowering in a not so good way and the alcohol is starting to kick my butt. Either my palate has changed over the the years re this beer or the recipe has changed. I’m inclined to believe the former. As I typed that, I’m now getting a burnt malt/tobacco like flavour. That doesn’t help.
Good enough mouthfeel but darn it, a fav of years past has decidedly gone south according to my palate. No more. How can I say that? I have another bottle!

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Looks good; a dark dull cola with foamy beige head that slowly dissipates into lacing. Smells of dark malt and chocolate with some light roast. Tastes like it smells with a fairly sweet backbone. Nice and smooth on the palate. Enjoyable.

Special tap at Avery. Pours a very dark brown, light tan head with decent retention. The aroma is very mild, but sweet. The taste is very smooth, medium body with a finish of sweetness and malty chocolate. Overall a great imperial stout.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Yoav’s place. 2012 batch. 11.1%. Black with a nice light brown head, a bit bubbly. Roasty aroma with coffee, some dark chocolate, burnt notes and alcohol. Sweetish roasty flavor with coffee, chocolate, alcohol and a drier finish with some bitterness. Rather full-bodied and a bit too alcoholic.
