Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

Bottle share. Batch #12 2013. Pours fairly dark brown, red highlights, tan cap. Aroma of anise, prune, chocolate. Taste is bittersweet. Low carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. Sticky.

Barreras (1168) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - MAY 14, 2014
Pours a deep brown almost black color with a molasses aroma. Taste is coffee, toffee, and alcohol malt. A lasting linger on the palate that verifies the alcohol content. A candied flavor with this beer, almost like a Belgian Strong. An enjoyable beer but not my favorite Imperial Stout.

Bomber, 2009. Pour is motor oil black, thin khaki head and alcohol legs. Smell is milk chocolate, coffee, molasses, toffee and alcohol. Taste is dark chocolate, molasses, a hong if coffee and a toffee and boozy finish. Surprisingly boozy for 4+ years old, but still enjoyable.

Beachmaster (209) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 15, 2014
Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Pours a deep black, with a small tan head that quickly fades, leaving good lacing. Nose is toffee and molasses. Taste is caramel, toffee and dark fruit. Delicious. Hides the ABV well. Very drinkable now, would be outstanding if cellared for a year or two.

DocJitsu (1156) - Florida, USA - APR 13, 2014
Pours an opaque, extremely dark brown with a fat, creamy, somewhat sudsy, khaki colored head. The nose is sorghum in a glass jug after just lifting off the cap that leaves a bit of rusty residue. Rich, thick mouthfeel. Fruit forward, with a balance of sorghum and zinc providing the structure.

2012 vintage. Dark as oil. Thin tan head. Opened to celebrate last fish fryday of 2014. Hot. Coffee beans. Can’t drink too much.

Had this one a few days ago. Imperial Stout is my favorite style, and this is a great one. Wonderful aroma of bourbon, oak and hops. The booze also comes through in the flavor, but not so much that it makes it sweet. Reasonably priced compared to some other highly rated stouts. This will become a go-to for me.

Growler from Joe Canal’s in Lawrenceville, NJ. Opaque black color. Creamy tan head is small and lingering. Mild coffee aroma. Smooth, silky roasted malt flavor. Thick and luxurious mouthfeel. Notes of espresso, licorice and treacle. Resiny hops in finish, along with vanilla and prunes. Big, bold and delicious.

Roasted malt with a spice note. Chocolate taste and light coffee. Not bad. Very enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
