3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. @ Bambinos. Pours thick opaque black with medium dark mocha head. Aroma is dark roasty malt, chocolate, espresso, and a bit if sweet raisin. Taste is sweet creamy chocolate malt with notes of toffee and espresso. Rich chocolate flavors dominate. Mild but assertive hop finish. Lacking the complexity normally found in imperial stouts. Good, but not great.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 Oz bottle pour split at Brouwers Cafe. 2009 vintage. Pours black with a bubbly short lived head. Caramel malt and plum raisin aroma. Bran aroma, and quite boozy, though not quite in a bad way. Toasty finish. Big Stout. Enjoyable, fun beer to try. Unique for sure. Hope to find a fresh version soon. Tasty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2003 bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting, kindly shared by beerlover_ben. This one has gone over its limit, too old. What is left is a dusty version of a big stout. There are some red fruits left, as well as some ligh chocolate notes. Still enjoyable, but needs to be shared. Interesting.

Bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting. Thnx for the awesome day, folks! This bottle was shared by Beerlover_ben . 2003 edition. Pours rather clear, yet super dark brown. No real head. Smell is port and madeira, sweet. Taste is boozy, port, bit plastic. OK, but not great.

This brew is one of my ultimate favorites. I’ve tried so many Avery beers and finally found one I will always buy if I can find it in stock somewhere. This brew is deep, rich and amazing. So high gravity that it does make my heart skip a beat. This brew should be taken slowly, over a prolonged period. It does challenge ones physiology in several ways. Not a bad idea to chase it with ice water and have some insulin handy if your pancreas is not up to speed. This is an entire meal in a bomber.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at Olbutikken. Pours dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of big malt, light roast, overripe dark fruits and booze. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Too boozy and thin for the style.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Flarra. Doft.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 6, 2015 2014 variety with stated 8.5% abv. Tan to brown head which isn?t foamy but is liquidy. Dark dark brown to black with red hues in light. The nose is, honestly, magnificent. Chocolate goes without saying (that seems to be required on a stout) but the hazelnut and toffee are, in a word, enticing. Perhaps a bit sweet? That?s the only issue I can come up with. The layers of flavor are exceptional. This is one for the shortlists out there.
