V - pours black with a thnnish head
A - nice hops aroma with the usual suspects in an imperial stout
T - lots of chocolate
P - great body, smooth and filling Narnad (106), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Batch was from 2007. The beer pours a great dark black with a very finely carbonated tan head which sits on top very frothy. The aroma hits you as soon as you open the bottle. A great strong sweet molasses, prune, chocolate and alcohol aroma abound from the beer as it sits waiting to be drank. Flavor is heavy of alcohol but it seems to accentuate deep molasses and chocolate flavors in the beer. The flavor really sticks to your tongue with the chocolate and alcohol lasting the longest. The beer is very frothy in your mouth, its med-heavy mouth feel but quite frothy, like drinking the top foam off of a hot chocolate. Beer leaves great lacing on the glass. A great beer and highly recommended. bsierra (183), Vista, California, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bomber from Vista Liquor. Pours black with ruby highlights and a medium sized creamy beige head that leaves light lacing. The aroma is moderately sweet, dark fruits (plum), roast, chocolate, and molasses. The flavor has much of the same sensations as the aroma. Moderately sweet dark fruits, roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, light alcohol, and a hint of citrus. Medium/full mouthfeel. Starts smooth, but has a little burn as it goes down.
0o9i (260), Reno, Nevada, USA Oct 3, 2008 2007 bottle. Pours a clear liquid that turned into an opaque body with a hint of garnet around the edges. A creamy taupe head hid it’s surface and laced a bit, eventually turning into a thick ring. The aroma is lovely and rich, with currant jam, gentle booze, chocolate, lots of molasses, and a touch of licorice. Mouth is a bit thin for such a big beer, weighing in at medium-full with light, coarse carbonation and a wettish finish. Flavor is pleasing and somewhat complex, dominated by malts and alcoholic warmth. I taste chocolate, a bit of booze, lots of molasses, toffee, lots of currant jelly, and a noticeable anise flavor on the finish. Warming and rather yummy. I would like to try an aged bottle that has sat 2-3 years. Easy drinking for such a big beer. Drinks well at about 55 degrees. fishingnet (855), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 1, 2008 2007 Bottle. Pours black with a one finger long lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of fresh cracked roasted malt, rich dark chocolate, alcohol, toffee, molasses, dark fruit, and a touch of licorice in the finish. Taste is dominated by heavily burnt slightly astringent malt followed by a good amount of alcohol burn and hint of licorice and sweet toffee in the finish. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness and astringency and slightly hot alcohol. The aroma is amazing but the excesive use of heavy roasted malt makes it a little tough to drink. Would probably be better with a few years of age.
