BelgianBeerGal (983), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jun 11, 2008 2007 Bottle. Aroma probably overpowered by alcohol making it slightly astringent but other than that a solid impy stout. ABV did not overpower the taste at all. Renewed my willingness to try Avery products.
rkuhnel (1146), Eureka, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 From a 22 oz bottle from Bevmo in Van Nuys this poured a very dark brwon tending toward black with an small off-white head and good lacing. Nose of chocolate and ripe fruit. Rich and creamy mouthfeel. Very nice flavor of coffee and chocolate from the dark malts with a long malty and bitter finish. Very good stuff. edmajorjoe (55), Vail, Arizona, USA Oct 12, 2008 A very tasty stout. Excellent pour. Dark with a rich, thick head and extremely malty. heynik1885 (29), tonawanda, New York, USA Oct 8, 2008 07 batch Dark black pour, with a think cola like head, lots of lacing on glass. Immediatley smell molases, hops and a spicy sweetness. Taste is molasses, chocolate, coffee, slight alcohol but not overpowering just perfect. Very drinkable! carruthm (434), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 6, 2008 From bottle at brouwers in Seattle
V - pours black with a thnnish head
A - nice hops aroma with the usual suspects in an imperial stout
T - lots of chocolate
P - great body, smooth and filling Narnad (119), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Batch was from 2007. The beer pours a great dark black with a very finely carbonated tan head which sits on top very frothy. The aroma hits you as soon as you open the bottle. A great strong sweet molasses, prune, chocolate and alcohol aroma abound from the beer as it sits waiting to be drank. Flavor is heavy of alcohol but it seems to accentuate deep molasses and chocolate flavors in the beer. The flavor really sticks to your tongue with the chocolate and alcohol lasting the longest. The beer is very frothy in your mouth, its med-heavy mouth feel but quite frothy, like drinking the top foam off of a hot chocolate. Beer leaves great lacing on the glass. A great beer and highly recommended.
