COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

My new standard for Russian Imperials. No wonder the Bolsheviks were pissed. If the court got to drink this and all I got was Vodka, I'd revolt too. Poured a coal like black With a deep tan head. Aroma was redolent with malty roasted goodness, also coffee and a bit of sweetness like a candied fruit. Flavor was too stunning for words. Think of the most flavorful stout you have ever had and then double it. Continued to find flavors well into the aftertaste. 12.2% is nowhere to be found in the drinking of this fine ale. However, it is a bit noticable when rising from the bar stool.

Thanks Lew. Black, with imperceptible tan lacing. Big aroma, carried across 2 rooms when poured. Full of licorice, chocolate pudding. Massively thick, flavor is espresso, roasty dark chocolate, and pot de creme in a glass. Nice roasted bitter balance to the heavy malt and chocolate. 11% abv is incredibly absent. There is depth and complexity to this that will bring me back for many more.

Opaque with thin, brown head. Nose of molasses and fortified soya sauce. Smooth, smooth molasses, vanilla. Finishes with a powerful mellowness that was never encountered with the Russian Royal Family!

Big and bold! Everything about this screams Russian Imperial and it’s a mighty fine example! Pours oily black with a thin tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is a complex blend of hops and semi-sweet malts. The taste follows that through with a nice hop bitterness up front quickly followed by some delicious malts. Very well balanced and goes down easy at 11%. Scary good!

Very dark with a rather foamy and strong tan to brown head with a lot of lacing. Roasty malt, coffee, cocoa, molasses are all present. Thick but not syrupy. Very full bodied, strong but not displaying any strong alcohol content. A very good imperial stout.

2011 - 2012 bottle. Aged very well, tastes much different then 2012. Vanilla toffee desert, coffee notes, aged, very delicious! 2011 is much better.

22 oz. bottle Batch 11 Nov. 2012. Pours dark brown black with a fizzy tan creamy looking head that dissipates to a creamy thin film and thick collar with some lacing. Aroma has bitterness and dark roasted malt some dark fruit and coffee/chocolate scents as well. Taste is creamy bitter with pretty much everything from the aroma, but now it is in my mouth. Palate is full rich and shows good carbonation. Nice brew which I will be sad to see missing from Minnesota shelves!

Pour from 22 oz bottle. Opaque black. Tan head that laces quite thin. Aroma of licorice and molasses. Taste is malty at first then a light hop finish. Decent beer.
