Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser and more complex with age.

Bottle from Proof. Deep black pour with a creamy tan head. Rich chocolate, roasted malts, topsoil, raisins, indescribable spice character with some citrus and piney hops hiding under there. Milk Dud flavors with some more touches of dark berries, earth, licorice and lingering floral and pine hops at the end. Viscous body with not much carbonation and hints of booze at the end. Not too shabby.

2012 bottle, purchased April 2013. Nice black pour, lovely light brown, creamy, heavy head turns to a moderate ring; medium lacing. Molasses, raisin, chocolate, booze. There’s some off smell and flavor in here that doesn’t agree with me; it’s possibly the currants, but I’m getting rotting cardboard and plastic, I don’t know. Forgettable and slightly gross.

Dark brown real dark brown with small real small tan head. Huge aromas of cocoa and fennel and obviously roasted malts. Flavor of rich and bitter chocolate. Additional anise and coffe and some burnt caramel. Light earthy hops finished extra rich with slight alcohol edge.

Bigger tasting at Ronny’s flat, Copenhagen. Almost clear very dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and light and has fine carbonation. Mellow dark malts and mild dark chocolate. Alcohol spicy finish. Amazed I’ve never had this but then it was a bit (just a bit) of a let down.

Beautiful and continuous light brown foam. A good smell of coffee and chocolate. The taste is most influenced by coffee and liquorice and the high percentage of alcohol is strongly penetrating taste. One senses some liquorice among the other impression. I think unfortunately that the alcohol content is too pervasive, but because it can be stored for up to 8 years, I think you eventually get quite a good and tasty stout.

22 Oz bottle pour split at Brouwers Cafe. 2009 vintage. Pours black with a bubbly short lived head. Caramel malt and plum raisin aroma. Bran aroma, and quite boozy, though not quite in a bad way. Toasty finish. Big Stout. Enjoyable, fun beer to try. Unique for sure. Hope to find a fresh version soon. Tasty.

2003 bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting, kindly shared by beerlover_ben. This one has gone over its limit, too old. What is left is a dusty version of a big stout. There are some red fruits left, as well as some ligh chocolate notes. Still enjoyable, but needs to be shared. Interesting.

Bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting. Thnx for the awesome day, folks! This bottle was shared by Beerlover_ben . 2003 edition. Pours rather clear, yet super dark brown. No real head. Smell is port and madeira, sweet. Taste is boozy, port, bit plastic. OK, but not great.
