yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Mar 31, 2009 Bottle, 22oz, 2006 vintage. An unclear, orange beer with a nice, beige head. Heavy aroma, sweet and malty, with piney hops. Some beefstock too. Really delicious and not very complex. Sweet, malty flavor with beefstock and some alcohol. Fine piney bitterness which smoothens towards the very end. Full-bodied and almost sticky sweet. Lager isn’t the first thought that comes to my mind when drinking this, and it’s probably too much on the sweet side, but I like it. (090327) BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2009 22oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors in Lutz, FL. Pours an opaque red-brown, bit of lasting carbonation, thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grapes, raisins...a hint of alcohol...very nice smell. Flavor is caramel, cocoa, grapes and plums up front finishing in some bitter hoppiness with a nice subtle alcohol burn...A bit of everything in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel...a little harsh...alcohol burn finish. I really this...a bit of everything...cool style. joshwilfong (769), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Mar 24, 2009 orange with thick white head, especially for a lager. moderate carbonation. fragrant malty nose. flavor of munich malt, maybe a little crystal, but with enough hop bitterness to prevent it from being to cloying. there are some residual sugars that weigh on the palate a little towards the end of the pint. some alcoholic warmth, but not overwhelming for the huge abv. a very refreshing and very good. makes up in uniqueness for what it lacks in perfection puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Mar 24, 2009 pours a hazy copper-brown colour with a little beige foam; robust hoppy and malty aroma; strong presence of caramel; full-bodied, very sweet and slightly sticky; solid bitterness lasting in a long and moderately dry caramelish finish - a very free interpretation of the style Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Mar 6, 2009 Looks like a Märzen, smells a bit like one, and could be described as tasting like one too. However, there are certain beer styles you can roll imperial, and other you should not. This is one you should not. Having said all that, it still suits me as I enjoy a good boozy malt sledge hammer. Cheers. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Mar 6, 2009 Updated: Sep 4, 200911 ounce goblet - $6.00 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Near opaque, orange-amber body with a small, somewhat fizzy, white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling, boozy nose of apricots marinating in apple brandy with a background scent of toasted caramel malts.
Taste: Initial blend of caramel malts and hot apple brandy with a charged dose of sweetness. Pinch of crushed, toasted bread crumbs. Plenty of alcohol heat throughout. A particularly distinct spice character transitions into Noble hops with a medium bitterness. Basically, it’s just more of the same till the finish.
Mouthfeel: A bit above medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: I’ve made several attempts to find, within me, some love for the Kaiser, but it’s just not going to happen, I’m afraid. I’m hesitant to toss out the phrase "hot boozy mess", but it’s pretty fitting. Perhaps it’s time to for a replacement dictator-themed beer. May I suggest a Napoleon French Bière de Garde or Mussolini Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter. Rustyham (545), miami, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2009 This is a marvelous mouthful of malt (i am drunk as hell as a result of finishing one bottle) $18 per 24 oz at Abraxas lounge on Miami Beach, proabbnly the best klager I have ever had or ever will have, this is some goodl thick stuff. Don’t fear it, enjoy the color, thickness and motuhful of buttery malt that you will expierience a a result. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Feb 15, 2009 Bottle at one of chris o’s tastings. Alround rating: Sweet strong nutty malts, fruity tangarine flavour, but lacking something to make it great.
