Unfiltered rust colored pour with a light head. Full malt and hop aroma plus a little orange or peach. Full molasses and malt flavor to start, with mellow, peppery hops coming it. Some cheese and grain notes too. This supercharged marzen is an excellent beer, the first imperial Oktoberfest I have seen. This Kaiser could kindle dreams of a fourth reich. mesperon (134), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2009 Appearance is a burnt orange hue. Right on for the style. Aroma is big on the caramel/toffee, some hops and alcohol. Flavor is more of the same, with more emphasis on hops than I’d anticipated. The bready and caramel aspects come in spades upon the first sip. The hop bitterness and flavor clean things up and balance the beer out. Finish is snappy and clean. Wow. For 10% there were no real syrupy qualities and it was very clean. This seems like a lager version of a barleywine, and I like it! Great beer! jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Clear dark orange amber, modest head. Caramel and breadcrust aroma initially with an added faint fruit element after it sits awhile. Sticky sweet malt and boozy faintly fruity finish. I found the alcohol to be quite intrusive in the finish and it became too harsh after a while. Just okay for me.
