The Kaiser once said, "Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world." If the Kaiser and his significant other had tipped this bottle, we'd all be "sprechenden Deutsch!" We took all that is good in a traditional Oktoberfest - gorgeous, deep copper sheen, massive malty backbone and spicy, floral, pungent noble hops - then intensified each into this, an Imperial Oktoberfest.

2008 Edition. Pour is golden orange.amber. Aroma of caramel and spicy hops. Caramel and toffee initially, followed by some spicy hops. Alcohol is pretty dominate throughout. Not really that impressed with the interpretation of the Oktoberfest style. It s a good beer, but not necessarily the best Oktoberfest.

Bomber - Pours a clear reddish amber in color with almost no head... little carbonation. Aroma is is quite malty (caramel, brown sugar), fruity (apples?) and flowery hops. Flavor is also quite sweet (a bit more than I like) with a nicely balanced hop bitterness, particularly at the end. Alcohol, not surprisingly, is more apparent than necessary, but I like its brain-numbing effects (drink this one SLOW). Not very true to an Oktoberfest-style beer, but a very good beer none-the-less. Well worth seeking out again.

Nice heady pour. Deep fruits on the nose with a good shot of caramel sugary maltyness. Pretty quenching and good bouncy mouthfeel. Lightly spiced, while sweet, beer and balanced well. A good, sturdy example of the style and one whose drinkability belies its strength.

2007 bomber. Not sure why anyone is complaining. Probably one of if not the best Oktoberfest I have had. I absolutely loved it. Very malty, spicy, butty, alcohol interwoven but not overpowering. I need to go find a few more bottles of this stuff.

From a 2008 10.03 % ABV bomber this poured a clear amber to orange color with a fat long lasting off-white head and very sticky lacing. Nose of floral hops. Mouthfeel is almost sticky. Flavor is of ripe fruit and the finish is malty and shows the alcohol. It is a little hard to get the last few sips down. But overall this is a quality beer. Note: Since the first bottle I drank a second at the warmer temperature, more like 55 degrees. Better that way.

2008 bomber. A 10% Oktoberfest!? Sheesh. The pour yields a clear, dark, orange-amber body with a fading, frothy, off-white head. Dense, sugary, soapy sheeting slowly glides down the glass, back into the surface. Aromas are sweet up front, notes of caramel, marshmallow, and candied nuts showing alongside a hefty dose of floral hops, cinnamon, and spicy ginger. A searing alcoholic note comes through on a deep inhale. Flavors, too, are intensely sweet at first, caramel and candy sugar weighing heavily. Floral hops and a touch of spicy grassiness lend some semblance of balance, but this brew is clearly malt driven. A strange vegetal note lingers in the aftertaste. The alcoholic heat gets to be overwhelming rather quickly, as it certainly isn’t hidden. A dense, sugary, under-carbonated mouthfeel doesn’t do much to help things. This is not terrible in ultra-small doses, but anything more than a glass is just overkill.

On tap at Trappeze. Poured amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, light fruit. Taste is pretty malty, with some fruit, spice, and mild hop finish. Mouth is smooth. Overall, a heavily malted strong Oktoberfest.
