| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Oktoberfest is supposed to be about session beer; why would we need an imperial? This had too much alcohol and it was entirely too much front and center. The beer was too sweet, not dry or nutty or in the Oktoberfest style. Like most of Avery offerings, this is all balls and no subtlety. noncaloric (605), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009More imperial than marzen, but I’m not complaining. Aroma is a bit on the faint side, noble hops, worty malts, but you have to come to it, rather than the other way around. Gorgeous clear orange pour, huge beige head, sparkling, lots of lace. Flavor has abundant noble hops on the front of a huge malt backbone; sweet like raw sugar; a lot of nut, especially almond; spicy: pepper, mace, orange peel, vanilla, lavender; this beer is delicious and complex. Long finish focusing on the hops. Creamy on the palate, depite all the head, just soft prickles on the tongue. cakanator (41), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2008 draft @sierra. NIce surprise to see Kaiser on tap but for it to be the 07 kaiser. Great amber hue, but the mid palate was fantastic lots of malty and almost vegital characteristics. The 9.3 was very well hidden and makes me wanna age a few for next year. doboy (177), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Wonderful mouthfeel. Nice sweet malty flavor, clean, great finish! timsilvia32 (446), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Amber pour, fairly clear. Whitish head. Malty aromas with some ligty citrus. More malty flavors than the usual Octoberfest brew. Definetely improves itself as it warms. Brown sugar, fig, raisin. Big, but smooth and clean finishing. Good to have by the fire in October. Yet another good brew from Avery, I have yet to be dissappointed. One of the best I’ve had for the style, but really outside the norm for the style. greenhorn1 (460), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2008 22 oz bottle 2007 vintage. Pours copper with a big head. After first sip, I was a bit confused by the whole experience, but by the middle of the glass I came to appreciate this imperial Oktoberfest. Big malty nose and taste. Spicy, mild pepper, finish. ABV is undetectable. Rynoplasty (507), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Pours amber with a small off white head. Aroma is big and malty. Taste is very malty and has a big warming effect that comes with the finish. An interesting brew for sure. BillWyce (95), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 12, 2008 2008 variety. Poured coppery-amber
with a small head. Slightly cloudy in
appearance. Very mild aroma with a
slight malt note. Palate a bit on the
syrupy side. Strong malt taste up front
that balanced to a nuttier flavor. left a
slight tingle of hops and alcohol at the
back.
