The Kaiser once said, "Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world." If the Kaiser and his significant other had tipped this bottle, we'd all be "sprechenden Deutsch!" We took all that is good in a traditional Oktoberfest - gorgeous, deep copper sheen, massive malty backbone and spicy, floral, pungent noble hops - then intensified each into this, an Imperial Oktoberfest.

Bottle at EBF 08. Lots of toffee malt, lots of fizzy hop on finish. I was looking forward to the Avery beers, but they were all pretty much a let down.

’08. An amber colored beer with a one finger quick dissipating light gold head. A nice big aroma jumps out and grabs the nose with sweet spices, caramel, and alcohol. Flavor is also very spicy with those wonderful Fall spices. It is also full of candi sugar and alcohol. The alcohol is over done and detracts from the flavor. Less sugar wouldn’t hurt, either. Other than those dings this is a super beer. Is there a record for highest ABV for a lager? This might hold it.

2008 bottle
V - clear light brown color with an enthusiastic slightly off white head, moreso than I’m used to on a marzen.
A - subdued aroma, a little bit of malt, little bit of hoppy floral elements
T - alcoholic, taste of candied sugar, caramel, light malt and hop taste. Somewhat of a cross between a barleywine and a marzen
P - very smooth for the ABV

2008 bottle. Pours a clear amber with a very thin white head. No lacing. Floral aroma with a touch of black cherry. Flavor has a pronounced alcohol bite, with a balaned floral and malty taste. Palate is heavy and smooth, but finishes a bit too dry for me. Overall an interesting Marzen. Very good, but a bit too much alcohol on the tongue. Not my favorite and not quite to style, but a quality sipper nevertheless.

Bought a bomber of this at Arrow Liqours in Littleton, Co. Awesome orange color, with some clarity and quite a nice depth that showed it’s strength. Great caramel flavors from what I take to be lots of munich malt. It was surprisingly very clean, and hoppy! I think it’s worth the money.

[Bottle] Pours deep gold with a medium beige head. Aroma is caramel with a bit of alcohol. Very smooth and rich, with a lot of alcohol. Caramel and raisins in there as well.

Copper pour with average sized off-white head. Roasted sweet malt nose. Flavor is sweet with caramel and a touch of hops. You can tell its got some heat from the high alcohol, but the spices hide it rather well.
