| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 6, 2008 Nice malty aroma. Very sweet aroma. A nice orange/brown color. This beer is opaque. Wow, the aroma is just nice and malty. I have really not smell a Oktoberfest beer like this every before. This marzen smells great. There is no hop aroma to speak of. What a creamy beer. Most of the marzen’s I have tried have a caramel/malt flavor to them, but are still not creamy. This palate is amazing. This is the best palate I have experienced with a marzen. Just a wonderful malty beer that is really good. The ABV is a plus too. Who doesn’t want a 10%+ ABV to drink during October. The creamy mouth feel is great. There is some body to this beer. Overall, probably the best Oktoberfest beer I have tried, ever! Please drink this beer! JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 4, 2008 Updated: Dec 26, 2008Bottle, into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours a dark copper, with a creamy white head that doesn’t disappear. Nose is very sweet caramel malt, floral hops underneath, and quite a bit of sharp alcohol coming through too. Taste is a huge dose of toasty, sweet caramel malt up front, with the alcohol bringing a noticeable spicy bitterness as well to try and rein in the huge malty sweetness. Really, this level of alcohol in a lager puts me off a bit, as does the insane sweetness you get - kind of twists some of the best qualities of an Oktoberfest instead of enhancing them. Swing and a miss for me, from a brewer that I’ve had a few homeruns from. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA

Aromas of toasted malt, fresh bread, sweetness, and alcohol. The flavor is very very sweet with malts, apples, alcohol, and a little cardboard that went away as it warmed . Big body, lively carb, syrupy texture, warm sweet feel. The biggest lager I’ve ever had. A little sweet for me, but great to share with a loved one on a cool autumn night. . larsniclas (3382), Gothenburg, Sweden
