blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Jan 23, 2008 22 0z. bottle, Having tried several Marzens lately I thought this was one of the better around ,hazy medium amber color with a nice head that dissipates to a soapy ring, complex malt, with a flowery hop note. I will definitely have another one.
Snojerk321 (1914), San Diego, California, USA Jan 16, 2008 Updated: Aug 2, 200822oz bottle from the Pizza Port bottle shop. Poured a very clear golden amber with reddish tint. Head was off white and small, great lacing left on the glass. Doubleo was right about the sweet potatoes. Also picked up hints of clove spice, caramel malt and light hops. Mostly malt on the palate, very sweet and smooth. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Jan 15, 2008 Pours an amber with a decently full head. The nose is of strawberries, citrus, and sweet malts. The palate was malty, acidic, orange, strawberry, and some hops. The alcohol was not well hidden in this one. doubleo (1096), San Diego, California, USA Jan 8, 2008 Pours a clearish light brown color. Much lighter than I was expecting. Thin white head. Smells sugary sweet, like sweet potatoes or something. Tastes of brown sugar, malt, and just a touch of hops. Thin, but it coats the mouth, sugary. Not one of my favorites. bleeng (587), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Jan 4, 2008 Updated: Aug 31, 2009Bomber 2007 version. Pours clear, dark amber with a small head. Nose of malts, sweetish, very "Octoberish". Tastes of malts, sweetness almost to the point of cloying. Body is thick and lucious. Very alcoholic. Nice beer but a bomber is more than enough of this beer. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Jan 3, 2008 Pours translucent amber into the glass, with a nice creamy head that diminishes to a ring, leaving soapy lace behind. Pumpkin, spices and grains to the nose. The flavors are of bold malt, with pumpkin seeds, raisins, dough, sour grains, and a touch of alcohol to finish out the pull. Hops are well-integrated, and lend a nice "spice" to any diacetyl notes. Full-bodied with a rich mouthfeel, this leaves a nice sour grain aftereffect, lending further complexity to the brew. Well done, and a nice offering. mmmbeer (737), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 2, 2008 Pint bottle poured into lager glass- poured transparent light amber brown, small carbonation, white bubbly head formed and stayed foamy. Aroma of rustic malt, with small notes of honey and alcohol. Hits the mouth with a medium body, sweet malt throughout, finish stops quickly with a brief alcohol finish and a very small touch of hops. Nice. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2007 Sampled via 22-oz bomber at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits and shared by joebrew. Pours a clear orange amber brew with a creamy and thick off-white head that slowly dissipates with good lacing and retention. Aroma of bread dough, some caramel malt, some raisin and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of semi-sweet caramel malt, toffee and a touch of honey. Finish is smooth, creamy, thick and a semi-sweet caramel malt aftertaste flavor.
