Maltajo (103), TARRYTOWN, New York, USA Oct 13, 2009 1pt. 6fl oz Bottle thanks to Dchmela! You contnue to rock!
Hazy thick pour with a whispy thin head. Spice malt carmels savey hops. Bold! I love this time of year. Hoptagon (132), Arlington, Virginia, USA Oct 12, 2009 22oz. Bomber. Rich, dark, coppery color with a finger width collar of foam. Gives off a malty scent, with a bit of caramel and some spicy noble hop aromas. Lots of bready character from the malts that have a dough flavored aftertaste. Hops are present in the mix and give the beer a kick of spicyness. Shows all the signs of a good Octoberfest with a crisp bite, a strong spice flavor and a heavy dose of malt. Body is medium, but relatively thick for the style with an average level of carbonation. Great job of masking the alcohol, not at all sweet and sugary like most lagers with high alcohol levels. Another impressive imperial release from Avery! CanIHave4Beers (836), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Oct 12, 2009 Updated: Oct 28, 2009This is clearly a dopplebock; but whatever. Pours orange with some good lace. The aroma is caramel-y with some good alcohol and nice fruity notes. The flavor is sweet but not too much so with some good caramel and light nuttiness, the alcohol is warming and there is a nice complimentary cherry note in the background. smith4498 (829), Miami, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2009 Pours clear copper color with off white head. Very sweet caramel aroma. Flavor is overly sweet and boozy in typical Avery fashion. Caramel, bread and some light hoppiness. Medium body with lively carbonation. A decent beer but not what I would reach for if I was in the mood for an Oktoberfest. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Oct 10, 2009 Updated: Oct 18, 2009Poured clear and amber/dark orange from the 750ml bottle into a pint glass: Aroma of caramel and nutty malts, citrus, resin hops, raisins, and I swear some bubblegum. Drinkability: Perhaps what an Oktoberfest should taste like. Rebuy: Possibly. DG #134 on 10102009, DG. rader58 (166), Leawood, Kansas, USA Oct 9, 2009 22oz. 2009 bottle. Pours a medium copper with reddish hue. Aroma of red licorice, bubble gum, molasses and malt. Intense sweet and malty initial taste. Malty and creamy finish on the back of the tongue. Quite complex and good. iamqueensblvd (181), , Iowa, USA Oct 7, 2009 malty fruity notes on the nose. rich amber pour with huge off white head. sweet flavor with a malty finish on the palate. Little hints of yeast or something breadlike.a little thick on the mouthfeel....but overall delicious. jrmac (210), USA Oct 5, 2009 A damn good beer. Nose is very malty, almost like a sweet bread. Palate is full bodied and malty.
