The Kaiser once said, "Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world." If the Kaiser and his significant other had tipped this bottle, we'd all be "sprechenden Deutsch!" We took all that is good in a traditional Oktoberfest - gorgeous, deep copper sheen, massive malty backbone and spicy, floral, pungent noble hops - then intensified each into this, an Imperial Oktoberfest.

Very deep copper in colour, long lasting medium sized off-white coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is bready, some caramel, surprising amounts of hops, toasty, some yeast. The flavour is quite hoppy, very dry and bitter, some alcohol, floral, grassy, some caramel and slight roast. Very bitter mouthfell, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, hoppy, noticable alcohol heat. Not sure how this is an Oktoberfest. Leave it to Avery to do something over-the-top again. At least this is drinkable and shows signs of having some balance.

Hazy amber color; creamy head; beautiful perlage. Aroma of malt, sweet caramel, bread. Good body structure, well malty, with caramel flavor, sweet. Long and quite strong ending bitterness. German hops with some aromatic characterisitc. Excellent; very good evolution for Lagers and Oktoberfest.

The Dan Journal #50. Sampled 10/22/06. 22oz bomber. 2006 vintage. Filtered and amber hued. Spiraling white head. Aromas of caramel and cookies. Cooked candy sugar and slight spices. Vanilla and cirtus with a slight burn in the nose. Full bodied with a smooth malt flavor and big kick of juice. Sugary bready sweet. Sticky hops in the finish. Big beer, but delicious!

2006 bottle. Clear deep straw colored pour with a large fluffy off white head. Sweet malty nose with a bit of candy sugar aroma. Smooth, slightly sticky mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Flavor starts fairly sweet, just a touch of floral hoppiness. Finish is slightly earthy.

Heavy malt aroma. Medium reddish brown body with some specs of sediment. Full palate. The taste is mostly caramel malt with some light hops and a hint of alcohol. Pretty darn tasty.
