Pours a muddy, rusty color with a moderate cream colored head that faded to a thin ring. Very nice malty aroma. Nice malty flavor too with a little spice noted as well. Warming alcohol finish without the burn. Tasty. jglazer75 (11), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

I tend to stay away from lagers but this was interesting. It was great. Great enough to make me want to go back and check out the lagers again. Surprisingly citrusy and hoppy. Nice body with a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. I had a 2005. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

So I decided to give "The Kaiser" a try. Wow! I don’t remember Oktoberfest’s tasting like this. Thick foamy white head that leads into the hazy amber body. The aroma is malty, malterness. The flavor is a thick maltiness with some floral hints also some hops show through in the finish. I am glad I decided to give this beer a try. Maybe not everyday but I will try again. A little bit too metallic for me, which took away from som of the later flavors. Very sweet and bold up front with a mouthful of malt. Those darn nazis. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Poured a deep golden/amber body with big head that stayed well. Aroma is malty and sweet. Sweet malts dominating the flavor with a big notice on hops and citrus being present. Slightly bitter and syrupy. An intresting take on the Oktoberfest. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 22, 2007 Enjoyed from a 2005 bottle. This is excellent! As much as I love Ayinger and even more in the off season (approaching brew time in March for Marzens), this Imperial is pipe-hitting! Rich body balanced with appropriate hops and yeast... slight caramel context. Hell Yeah! smashteroid (250), USA
