The Kaiser once said, "Give me a woman who loves beer and I will conquer the world." If the Kaiser and his significant other had tipped this bottle, we'd all be "sprechenden Deutsch!" We took all that is good in a traditional Oktoberfest - gorgeous, deep copper sheen, massive malty backbone and spicy, floral, pungent noble hops - then intensified each into this, an Imperial Oktoberfest.

Bottle (650ml - bottled 2004). Shared with biegaman, blankboy and mds - my bottle. Deep copper pour, small off-white head. Boozy, bready aroma of roast caramel malt, thick yeast and bitter herbal hops - nice. Very bitter taste - syrupy grainy malt, herbal hops, longish finish - sweet and fruity, more like a barleywine. Pretty thick body, only mildly carbonated, nice grainy toasted malt aftertaste - a little "big", but nice - held up well.

Clear almost orange amber with a huge foamy head that leaves lots of lacing in the glass. More malts in the aroma than I expected - reminds me a bit of a wiener actually. Very good oily mouthfeel, sweet malty flavour with a nice bit of fruits and some funky hops. Didn’t really seem like an oktoberfest to me, but this is way nicer.

Pours a nice clear, caramel color. Not much of a head at all. Nose is a bit bubble-gummy (my second bubble gum beer tonight) with banana in the background. Sweet malty, lightly hopped body. Malt turns a bit fruity with nice finish that tastes much like banana bread. Nice.

Bottle. Off-white high and lasting head. Beautiful clear amber body. Sweet and stong malt aroma. Fruity malt flavor with a pleasant bitterness. Notes of alcohol.

(Daft at Barcade) Very cloudy orange copper body with a small white head. Malty on the nose but the malty taste was not what I expected from an Oktoberfest. Very sweet with lots of toasted barley malts and some alcohol. Like some kind of cross between an Oktoberfest and a light barley wine. Hops make a surprising but appreciated appearance at the very end. Very good, brings something new to this usually rather restricted style. When you’re a german emperor you don’t follow the rules, you make them.

Sampled at an American Beer Tasting Event but unfortunately I forgot my notes. Sweet and malty with a nice oily palate.

Dark orange, amber colour with a large dense off white head. Malty, caramel sweet aroma with a hoppy floral note. Wellbalanced malty sweet flavor with caramel and hoppy notes and a light warming alcohol finish.
