plovmand (1590), Helsinge, Denmark Jun 14, 2009 Bottle. Amber bpdy with a medium off white head. Aroma has barley and lots of malty notes. The hops is profound. Heavy malty flavour with fruity and hoppy notes. Creamy body. gotbiere (4), New York, USA does not count Jun 10, 2009 Pours light amber with a small white head. Lighter color than I expected. Malty sweet nose. Tastes of malt and citrus. Not your traditional Oktoberfest. Good flavor but a little too sweet for me. GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Jun 3, 2009 Bottle. Toffee-caramel color. Cider like, sugary, hoppy. Sweet and notably pumpkin-y, if that can be a ord. Candy, apple, and toffee notes present too. Enjoyed a residual malty sweetness on the tongue. The high and increasingly higher ABV is evident from the start on roof of mouth. Aromatic and nice full body. In your face kind of beer; there’s no kiesch eaters drinking this. fidel (887), Livermore, California, USA May 29, 2009 Poured clear orange amber, malty, alcohol, honey, apricot, spicey, grassy hops, little grainy. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA May 19, 2009 Source: 22 oz bottle purchased at Beverage World in Rossville, GA. Glass: Poured into my Aventinus glass. Appearance: Clear orange pour with a one finger off white head. Aroma: Bread and yeast, with spices. Earthy hops. Flavor: Honey and sweet malts, with a bread and spice finish. Palate: Full bodied with solid carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Overall: Really dig the imperial oktoberfest beers. Give me more!
nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA May 18, 2009 Bottle from City Beer in SF. Almost unfair that this is called an Oktoberfest given the gravity and flavor. Pours orange with an orangish head. Aroma of malt, grain, and grassy hops. Flavor is more of the same, sweet malt and nice German hops on the finish. Fairly full body for the style, but it is 10%, so I’m not surprised. AndyReynolds (280), Wilder, Kentucky, USA May 16, 2009 Bomber. Pours a dark amber with a nice white head. Aroma is heavy in sweet malts. Notes of bread, rasin, and othe spice also come out. The flavor brings out a honey flavor with a bit of hops on the side. The finish is rather dry and thick. I enjoyed it even though I am not a huge fan of lager. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA May 14, 2009 Tasted as part of the Avery Experience at Brouwer’s. Pours a light golden color with a small head. Malts, and lots of them, right off the bat. Honeycomb (both the cereal and the real thing, actually) - this one is syrupy sweet, and totally malt-driven. Like a not-quite-Samichlaus. Not bad.
