3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2005 Bottle. Copper color with rust discoloration. Aroma of toasted malts doused in honey. A condensed version of a regular marzen, thick and ultra sweet, with touches of nutmeg and assorted spices. A lingering film of sugar in the finish. Impressively large for the style, but way more than you would ever need or want in an Oktoberfest.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Seattle tasting. As part of an epic vertical. Rating the 2015 bottle. Rich, darker copper, ring tan head. Fig and orange, rich, tart alcohol. Good take on imp lager. Fresh, tart alcohol. Not bad at all. (older versions were much sweeter, with more reduced flavors)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle poured at the tasting, as part of a vertical. Rating the current. Pours golden with a caramely, grainy aroma. Flavor is caramel malts with minimal spice. It was fun to try many years of this, but I believe it’s by far best when fresh. Good beer here.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
22 ounce bottle. Pours a cloudy reddish color with a thine beige head. Taste is of malt, yeast, banana, caramel, fruit, spice and alcohol. Has a similar aroma. Has a lighter, boozy body. Similar, near burning finish. Overall, it has some good initial flavors, but is too alcoholic and not drinkable.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours nicely into an oversized dimpled mug. Aroma is alcohol, fruit, and metal. Taste is very sweet, but not annoyingly sweet. Sort of a brandy without the burn. What an excellent surprise. Warms as it goes down.

2.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
A very fine oktoberfest brew. Aroma and appearance would be difficult to beat. The floral tones in the taste sets me back and is my reason for the low rating. One must know I favor stouts overall.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This beer poured a very transparent copper with a white head and ample carbonation. The aroma is indistinct and mostly grainy. The taste is also grainy with a variety of malts imparting some flavors of honey and toffee and other lightly sweet and toasty elements. There is little bitterness and not the body I expected from an imperial - the alcohol is well hidden. Overall, it is not a great festbier or a great imperial and I was disappointed.
