DuffManSW (139), Riverside, California, USA Jul 4, 2009 On tap at Tustin Brewing Company.. I looked for reasons not to give this a 5 but I really couldn’t find any. On tap this was the perfect beer... Pours copper with a creamy white head that leaves a nice lacing.. Aroma was amazingly floral and piney with a nice malt sweetness.. Flavor was piney with hop resin and a nice caramel sweetness.. Medium bodied with medium carbonation.. I would have probably drank myself stupid on this one if I didn’t have to drive. CharlesDarwin (1685), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2009 On tap at Zeno’s Pub. Dank, resiny aroma, starting to turn lemon
rind. Pours a darker orange-tined golden. Hazy. Flavor is rich and
hop stinky. A nice balance of bitterness and body. But, the residual
sweetness gets a little heavy for me, with a few too many residual
esters. There’s an extra level of expressive hop juiciness. Solid, of
course. jbye4334 (313), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 2, 2009 (on tap at the brewery). Copper color with some cloudiness. Medium off white head. Hoppy aroma. Hoppy/pine flavor. Avg duration. Oily texture. Moderate carbonation. Fair lacing. PJClarke (494), London, Surrey, England Jun 29, 2009 Great looking, strong red ale with a good thick head. Sort of fuddy hops to the nose with a deep caramel sweetness. Loads of hops with a not unpleasant lightness to it. Darned sweet and puly all round, the hops slowly fade as you drink it. It has a lovely mouthfeel and is very, very drinkable for its percentage. It sort of tastes dumb though you know? It lacks a real sophistication. ajm (782), Los Angeles, California, USA Jun 29, 2009 Tap at Bistro. Smells of red apple, alcohol, sweet hops and sugary malt. Flavored the same though the hops shine through more. Tastes kind of typical as far as DIPAs go. DerWeg (621), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 27, 2009 Hops and alcohol prickle the nose while surveying this pale monster. Thick old-gold clear pour with light gold highlights supports a creamy head that settles to just a ring. Fruity grassy and piney hops express good aroma, some lemon rind centennial hops. Taste really nice rich fruity sweet malts, piney bitter hops, citrus aroma and pith. Creamy feel and warming alcohol. And that’s before I cool it down a bit more... then the centennial dry citrus comes up a bit, the alcohol hides a little, and the creaminess is really astounding. Its the carbonation against the viscosity, combined with the alcohol and the careful shaping of the hop profile. Good stuff. stchloe (403), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 22, 2009 Updated: Jun 30, 2009Whoa, whoa, whoa, like whoa. I may be a girl but I like my beers bitter as my heart, this is ridiculous. Amazingly good, just a complex hop profile that lasts for a long time. Starts with a citrus profile but eases into a pine and ends with resin.
