Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle from Mr. G’s in Plano, TX.
Pours a nice clear amber with nice beige head. Aroma is very fruity. Flavor is a nice caramel malt with slight grapefruit tange, fruity, with nice hoppy bitter. Has a full body with medium carbonation. This is a nice warming beer. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 bottle thanks to swalden 28. poured a clear amber with beige head. aroma had some floral notes along with slight grapefruit. flavor was citrus, caramel, and some hops. this was an excellent IPA. alexanderj (2213), Chino Hills, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle; poured a clear amber-copper with a small, compact off white head. Aroma was really nice; juicy grapefruit predominantly with a hint of caramel malt. A touch of creaminess on the palate. Solid amount of bitterness in the finish for the style; bitterness hangs around for a bit. Flavor was a blend of pine and grapefruit, with only the faintest hint of sugar and sweet caramel. Really tasty and close to being elite for me. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 11, 2008 Slightly hazy dark amber pour with a small foamy tan head. Lots of grapefruit peel hoppiness in the aroma, with some pine and caramel malt. Flavor is similar, with the grapefruit dominating the other flavors. Very good DIPA. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 11, 2008 22oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy dark copper color with a thin white-tan head that settles slowly and laces the glass slightly. Aroma is heavily of citrus and grapefruit, hops, pine with slight sweet malt notes as well. Flavor is much the same as the nose: heavy notes of grapefruit, ripe citrus, some bready yeast, and sweet malt. Medium-body with a hoppy and bitter lingering finish. MakeItDrinkIt (66), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Deep ivory head atop a light brwon/copper colored beer. Aroma is big on the hops - citrus, pine resin, and some rich caramel malts. Flavor is - well - wonderful! Punch of creamy malty caramelly goodness backed by a big hop flavor, and nicely not overly bitter. Lingering tangerine pith and bits of pine. Really an oustanding double IPA. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jul 10, 2008 Clear amber pour with good tan head. Does this have simcoe in it? Piney Hop aroma. Amarillo hop flavor with some citrus orange in the aftertaste. medium mouthfeel. Solid brew. Great job of masking the abv entirely. gipsonc79 (7), , Missouri, USA does not count Jul 9, 2008 Possibly my favorite beer from what is quickly becoming one of my favorite domestic microbreweries. A fantastic IIPA. Wish it was available year round.
