Rich mid amber colour with a superb beige head and a fantastic snowstorm when swilled. Stunning big resinous hop aroma full of pine and spruce with some cheesy funk and just bitter as hell. Flavour... bloody hell! This is a real show stopper. A typically huge U.S. double IPA but this is pretty much done to perfection. Massive finish with so much fruit it’s almost too much to handle but it’s just oh so good. Monstrous resiny sting that lingers for an age. So grassy but with some incredible background malt that gives it a tiny bit of balance but really, who cares? An epic beer. jake65 (1698), Williston, North Dakota, USA

Aroma is a strong hop blast with lots of citrus and pine. Still, nice and sweet. Flavor is deep in hoppyland with a nice citrus and caramel sweetness. Strong, intense, yet rather smooth and soothing. Very enjoyable! badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Light caramel color with a white head leaving some lacing; looked good but I’ve seen better in IIPA’s. Smell is awesome, citrus is powerful, full of grapefruit and juicy hops. Taste is full of citrus, grapefruit, and pine. It’s like sticky hop juice on the tongue, a little bit of alcohol in the finish, brings down taste just a notch. Low to medium carbonation with a medium body. Really drinkable, I’ll be picking up another bottle next time I see it. beerheart (237), Erie, Colorado, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jul 5, 2008 There’s something so smooth about a premium IPA. I picked up a couple of these to enjoy with guests. It pours an amber color with a nice but dissipating head and plenty of lace. Bit grapefruit, floral, and hop aroma. The mouthfeel is what first communicates that this is a superior beer. It’s more full and creamy than most IPAs. Very strong malt. Tastes of bread, pine, and citrus. Nice, oily finish--very clean. alexsdad06 (1080), Ohio, USA

Pours a slightly hazy amber color with small off white head and no lace. The aroma is sweet caramel malts with herbal and citrus hops. The flavor shows great balance between the moderately sweet caramel malt and the citrus hops. There is also notes of pine and biscuit. This was medium bodied, fresh, and easy to drink. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2008 The wife meant to drink this in her Austin hotel room. But she brought it back warm. The ice in the bucket was slow to respond. And it ended up back here in Columbia. One of a handful of Avery beers that for some odd reason don’t end up in Columbia (we only get about a half dozen). Malty. Heavy ABV. Drink it slow. Drink it fast. What the hell do I care? I’ll drink it in your place. Thank goodness for hotels without fridges.
