Holdwine (905), Beertimore, Maryland, USA May 19, 2008 Another winner from Savor! Softer than the 10.5% would let you think. Wonderful piney nose and a bountiful display of hops throughout the ride. Enough pleasant barley to remid you that there is more to life than hops, but then right back to a full hops finish. Quite a full mouthfeel and low on the carbonation. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA May 18, 2008 Bottle. amber pour with a small head that was gone pretty quick. Aroma of citrus and pine. Flavor of lots of hops, but blanced with malt. Nice alcohol burn on the way down. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA May 17, 2008 Pours haxy amber with head that dissipates fast. Aroma is hops and more hops. Pine and citrus. This is a similar x2IPA to Gemini except the alcohol is slightly more noticable and the beer is heavier on the palate not as much carbonation. I would enjoy this brew more if it was more carbonated and refreshing. I think it is a huge beer and solid enough in flavor to back up the 10.54% (love the hundreths place) mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland May 16, 2008 (Bottle at Pikkulintu on 2008-05-15) Amber colour, Clear until yeast poured. Big white head with some big bubbles. Hops and alcohol in nose. Quite flat and full- bodied palate. A fruity taste with some hops. Warmth from alcohol. Yeast, when poured in, softened the alcohol taste. Pwn3d (1040), Manhattan, New York, USA May 15, 2008 10.54% Alcohol version. Nose had unique notes of honey, citrus, and pine.. was badass. Taste is unreal for the alcohol, very soft on the tongue. sayravai (3720), Helsinki, Finland May 15, 2008 (Bottled) Almost clear amber with a small, bubbly head. Nicely aromatic, pine-hoppy nose with some alcoholic barley-wine feel. Flavor is strangely cinnamon-spicy, slightly stingy, not very hoppy, slightly smoother with yeast. Quite full-bodied with low carbonation. Not bad, but quite strange and slightly alcoholic. mto (51), helsinki, Finland May 15, 2008 (bottle@pikkulintu) this beer is better with yeast. Without yeast, the king alcohol eats all flavours andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA May 13, 2008 bomber. i just walked into a pine forest and licked every tree in it, then i just sucked the sap and chased it with alcohol and sucked on a hop to top it off. DAMN! it’s a biggie. avery is beginning to build its name on big ales that pack a bit of a punch. the ’08 version is a whopping 10.54 ABV, with 102 IBU’s. pine, grapefruit rind, honestly - just choking on citrus peel is more like it. this is big, bitter, and fairly offensive. don’t share with your friends...rather, horde for yourself. the only thing that is a slight drawback is the price. i’d like to cellar this for about 2 yrs and see how it holds up to the elements of aging. on the scale of ’ya got it or ya don’t’ it’s ’got it.’
