tiffanya (45), Federal Way, Washington, USA May 6, 2008 Smooth, creamy mouth-feel. Sweet and fruity: loads of grapefruit, with a hint of passion fruit and Rainier cherry. Plenty of citrus zest and toasted caramel-toffee malts. Grassy hop petals. Warming alcohol. Delicious!! I’m always sad to see this limited-release beer disappear...and happy to see it return each spring & summer. elcaballo (101), Beverly Hills, California, USA May 5, 2008 A tastey IIPA with some solid piney and cirtusy hops. Some grapefruit in there. A nice drink trevor211 (499), Seattle, Washington, USA May 5, 2008 Pours a great dark orange amber with a thick, creamy head. This is what an IIPA should look like. Aroma is powerfully citrus-hoppy with a very malty sweetness - both come through wonderfully. The flavor is equally well-blended, with caramel malts and a bit of smokiness that I didn’t like offsetting the bitter hops. Big, thick, smooth mouthfeel - this is delicious beer, and one of the best examples I’ve ever tried of my favorite all-around type. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA May 4, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy orange color with a thin off-white head that leaves light lacing. Hoppy, pine, caramel aroma. The flavor is an enjoyable mix of hops backed with caramel malts. Medium to full body and smooth. Very nice overall. (Rating from June ’07) bbp182 (255), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 This Avery IPA has an orange, light amber color with a nice white head that stays and ok lacing. Piny, citrusy smell with a good malty sweetness smell. Very thick, citrusy hop taste, sweet and malty. Grapefruity, sweet taste. Alcohol isn’t really present which is good. Beerman6686 (1259), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2008 Poured an amber color with a big white head. Aroma of lots of piney hops and pineapple. Flavor of pine and citrus hops with a nice malty finish. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2008 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Bottle. Pours a clear orangish copper, with a big creamy white head, and huge sticky lacing. Aroma has lots of pine and big acidic spicy citrus. Vanilla, too. Flavor is spicy; some hot sauce kicks things into gear. Hoppy overall, lots of pine and citrus. Nice malty finish. Full-bodied, very easy to drink, and extremely smooth, despite the hoppy spiciness. Balanced. Like this one. General66 (164), Streator, Illinois, USA Apr 28, 2008 Bomber shared with nimrod and Illini08 while in line at Dark Lord Day 2008. This poured a beautiful amber color with a nice head that lingered for the duration of the beer. The aroma definitely reminded of of Bells Hopslam but was a little bit less intense. There was a lot of citrus and pine with suggary malt in the background. The taste was also very pleasant with a lot of hop character, citrus hints, and a lot of malt. The maltiness of this beer made you keep wanting more! I would not say that this is better than Hopslam, but would definitely be a contender. Very tasty!
