AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Apr 20, 2008 Pours copper brown with decent off white head. Nose is pine hops. Flavor is a great blend of caramel malt and pine grass hops. A touch viscous. Great beer. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Apr 20, 2008 Great looking pour with a pine tar medium brown body with a nice tan head. Moderate carbonation. Huge hop aroma with grapefruit, pine and fruit. Hops explode in the mouth on the first sip along with a high IBU. Some sweet malt is evident but just can’t balance that much hop. It is floral, piney, grapefruity, spicy, tart, and sweet. This is truly a robust and aggressive beer but is amazingly easy to drink. It should keep the hop farmers in business! Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Apr 20, 2008 Aroma: obscenely good hop profile, somewhat reminiscent of 90 Minute. Lovely, fruity, piny, elderberry, black currant. SOme malts linger in the back too.
Flavour: nice, sourish bittersweet, black currant malty sweetness. I love it. Not too heavy, very good balance.
Palate: near perfect, big, fluffy, fizzy, oily & very fruity.
Appearance: clear orange towards copper body with yellowish British head. Ando (105), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Apr 19, 2008 feb 07
*liked it would buy if it tasted a year old*
aroma: some spoiled fruits. some pepper ish spice. app: apricot orange hue that glows. flavor: sweet chewy malts. the hops are yummy but mild. i think the age on this has really added to the drinkability. it is very warm balanced and nice. palate: fine. could use more carbonation. OA: fine dipa, i like the foward malt dipa myself and the year on this bottle has really smoothed it off.. in a good way.. soyorganic (217), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 19, 2008 Updated: May 20, 2008This is one of my favorite beers. If you like hops, this beer is great. It has more flavor than their already stellar IPA. Avery IPAs have a very distinct hop flavor which I am fond of. Copper color with an amora that smells like hops. Very nice. BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 18, 2008 Wow, this is like drinking pure hop juice squeezed into a glass. I realize this is al about the hops, but it is almost balanced, in my opinion it could use just a bit of a stronger malt backbone. The hops are quite delightful in this beer. Nectarish and creamy, with all the grapefruit and citrus fruits, slightly sharp and bitter in the finish, but enjoyable. WallyWalrus (205), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Apr 17, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a good white head and good carbonation. Aroma is sweet, with an aroma of dry hops along with some subtle hints of honey and floral notes. Body is full and malty for an IPA, with a taste that’s delightfully full of hoppiness and pleasantly bitter on the finish, but not overwhelming in any respect. In the crowded field of ridiculously hopped IPAs, here’s a balanced but bold one. Elizavyeta (110), Minnesota, USA Apr 17, 2008 Glorious notes of sesame, pear, and orange predominate, with a brilliantly golden amber hue.
Flavor itself is intense, with hints of cedar and almond and a long, sweet, slightly bitter finish. Profoundly vibrant, it has a somewhat boozy bite to even out the fruit and hops.
Would be a wonderful pair to a sharp and nutty cheddar.
