Pouring at one of the distributors booths at BCTC. Pours a hazy amber brown with a thin white head. Caramel and spice on the nose, and hoppy, but not as much as I’d have anticipated. Flavor is nice, with some nice caramel malt holding up before the big bitter grapefruit finish.
eje (8), , New York, USA does not count Aug 2, 2009 Wonderful burnt amber color, sweet smell. Not as bitter as would be expected for such high abv. Hides the alcohol really well. chrisv10 (336), Denmark Aug 1, 2009 65 cl bottle. Deep orange body with off-white head. Flavour is hops and citrus. ljay6880 (132), , Pennsylvania, USA Jul 31, 2009 22 oz bottle served in a tulip glass. Pour is a hazy, deep orange with a thick layer of white head. Nose is orange, citrus, hops, pine, and a florally perfume. Taste is citrus, hops, spices, and perfume that finishes wet and bitter. This isn’t the best IPA I’ve had, the spices are a bit too much for me, but it is very good and quite drinkable for a 10.5% ABV! Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2009 22oz bottle Batch 10 7/31/09 (Sam’s Wine & Spirits-Downers Grove)-Pours a hazy orange with a small loose off white head. Aroma of hops and citrus. Taste os hops, malt, and pear. This medium bodied brew kicks ass. It is very well balanced and hides the ABV really well. Great job. Razael (1), Ohio, USA does not count Jul 31, 2009 Wonderfully hoppy and paired well with the spicy food I was eating at the time. bwilley (20), Fullerton, California, USA Jul 27, 2009 Updated: Jul 28, 2009Golden caramel appearance with a very rich head and nice lacing. Slight sweetness at first followed by the tart taste of the hops. Very refreshing and drinkable for the style. One of the better Douple IPA’s I’ve had.
